FROM THE PASTOR
This Sunday we celebrate the FEAST OF THE BAPTISM OF THE LORD and we are invited to reflect upon the nature of our own Baptism and its significance in our lives. Through our baptism, each one of us has become a member of the family that we call the Church. We are called, as members of one family of faith, to live in a way that reflects our union with Christ, the Head of the Body, and also with the other members. St. Paul instructs us that there should be no divisions among us and that we must put aside anything that causes estrangement. In his beautiful letter to the Colossians, St. Paul states: "because you are God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, conduct yourself with heartfelt mercy, tenderness, compassion…bear with one another, put up with one another, forgive each other as Christ has forgiven you.." The manifestation of our baptismal vocation is indeed the lives that we lead and the observation made about the early Church, "See how they love one another" is a remark that reflects the degree to which we are faithful to our baptismal commitment. As we acknowledge that Jesus is God's beloved Son, may we live our lives in such a way that we truly listen to Him and follow His call to holiness of life.
This Monday night, January 12th, we will be having our MONTHLY EVENING OF PRAYER as part of the spiritual renewal of our parish. I want to invite you to join us for Evening Prayer and Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament at 7:30 PM in the Church. The graces that flow from this time spent in Christ's presence are infinite and will bestow upon us the tools that we need to live the life of faith. There will be refreshments served in the Church hall afterwards so that we can share some fellowship with those who are in fact our brothers and sisters.
As we shared last week, the REV. MARK J. RILEY has been appointed the Administrator of St. John's Parish in East Bridgewater and Fr. Riley will assume this pastoral position on January 26th. Although we are saddened by his departure, we are also extremely grateful to the Lord for permitting us the gift of Fr. Riley's friendship and love. Fr. Riley has graciously agreed to be the Principal Celebrant of a Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday, January 25th at 11:30 AM at St. Patrick's Church. I hope that as many of you as possible will join us for this special moment as we offer to the Giver of All Gifts the most beautiful expression of thanks that has ever been spoken, the Prayer of Jesus Christ, the Mass.
I want to express my gratitude to all of those parishioners who worked so hard to make our Church ready for the celebration of Christmas. I am especially grateful to GAIL HEALEY, DIANNE GAYTON, ANN GARVEY, and CATHY NOVAK who coordinated the decorating efforts. The Church looked magnificent and its radiant beauty enabled us to observe Christ's birth with the dignity and reverence that it deserves. I am grateful as well to the Music Ministry, to George Burke and Martin Kelly, to the Lectors, Ushers, Extraordinary Ministers, and Altar Servers for their invaluable assistance. May God, Whose generosity is without end, reward you for I know that we never could.

Prayer Partners
We are still looking for more parishioners to share in the journey of preparation with our 2nd grade students as they move toward the reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. A Prayer Partner is an individual or a family who commits themselves to praying for a child in 2nd grade that the Lord will be with them and grow in them as they prepare to receive the Sacrament. Prayer partners will have the opportunity to meet the child that they have been praying for before the sacrament date. If this ministry is of interest to you or your family there is a sign up sheet in the back of the church or else please call the Office of Religious Education to be assigned to a child.

Reflecting a Consistent Ethic of Life
Seamless Garment Reflection:
"A person's relationship to God the Father and his relationship with his brothers and sisters are so linked that Scripture says: "He who does not love does not know God". As a consequence, the Church rejects as foreign to the mind of Christ any discrimination against people or harassment of them because of their race, color, condition of life or religion."
