FROM
THE PASTOR
Today, February 11th is WORLD DAY OF THE SICK
and we will be celebrating the ANOINTING OF THE SICK
after the 11:30 AM Mass. In the Letter of St. James, the question
is asked: ”Is there anyone sick among you?” The response suggests
that the sick should call for the priests of the Church who are
to pray over them and anoint the sick with oil in the name of
the Lord. This wonderful sacrament is not the “Last Rites” of
the Church but rather a powerful instrument of God’s healing presence.
If someone is seriously ill, about to undergo an operation, or
is advanced in years, we strongly urge them to receive this sacrament.
We offer a prayer of thanksgiving to the Lord for the gift of
our brothers and sisters who are ill because they, in union with
Christ, help provide by their sufferings for the needs of the
Church and the world. I invite all to bear witness to God’s loving
concern for the sick by joining us to celebrate this wonderful
sacrament.
I would also like to invite all parishioners to join us on this
Monday evening, February 12th, for our MONTHLY EVENING
OF PRAYER. We will be celebrating an early Valentine’s
Day as we gather to thank God for the gift of Marriage. I invite
all married couples to join us for a SPECIAL MASS OF THANKSGIVING
AT 7:30 PM in the Church as we renew the promises that
you made to each other on the day of your wedding. Your faithful
witness to your marriage vows allows all of us to experience the
presence of God as we see how you love each other. By your love,
you make present God in our world for He is love. The stability
that you provide for your families by your generous love for each
other enriches all of society and we give thanks to God for the
wonderful vocation that He has bestowed upon you and for your
faithful response. May God bless you with happiness and may your
love for each other bring you great joy and peace.
By now, many of you have received the new OFFERTORY ENVELOPES
and I trust that you will find them more “user-friendly.” We instituted
this change at the recommendation of the Parish Finance Council
and after consultation with the Parish Pastoral Council. All agree
that the new version will be much easier to use and hopefully
will increase the number of people who will use them. On behalf
of the entire parish, I want to thank all of you for your faithful
and generous support. Your contributions go a long way towards
making our parish such a vital entity. May God reward you for
all that you do because I know that we never could.

Stewardship
Happy those who do not follow
the counsel of the wicked, nor go the way of sinners, nor sit
in company with scoffers. Rather, the law of the LORD is their
joy; God's law they study day and night. (Psalms 1:1-2)
The words of the Psalmist echo the theme of all of today’s readings.
“Happy are they who hope in the Lord.” As good stewards, firmly
grounded in that hope, may we bear fruit in due season – assisting
the poor, feeding the hungry, and consoling the sorrowful whenever
we have the chance.
St. Vincent de Paul Weekly Food Collection
Parishioners are reminded of the ongoing food collection
for the needy members of our community. Donations of non-perishable
food products and non-food items may be left at the left side
of the church vestibule at any service. Items are then distributed
to various food pantries. Some especially needed items at this
time are: canned stews, cereal, coffee, 100% fruit drinks, tomato
products, toothpaste and shampoo.
Your generosity in assisting individuals and families who are
unable to meet some of their basic needs is greatly appreciated!
Steubenville East
Ryan Barba, a parishioner of St. Patrick's, is organizing
a youth group from our parish to attend a fun, energizing Catholic

All parish high school youth are encouraged to attend an informational
meeting Tuesday, February 13th at 7PM in the Joseph Center.

World Day of the Sick
TODAY, Sunday, February 11th
The International World Day of the Sick
is observed this year Today, Sunday, February 11th,
the annual Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. The Sacrament
of the Sick will be given to those who are elderly or
seriously ill following the 11:30 Mass. The Anointing
of the Sick is intended for the faithful who are in danger of
death from sickness or old age. It is fitting to receive this
sacrament just prior to a serious operation or for the elderly
whose frailty has become more pronounced. It is our hope to offer
this Sacrament on a monthly basis following one of the Sunday
Masses.
World Marriage Day 2007
Renewal of Wedding Vows
Saint Patrick Parish invites you all to join us for our monthly
Evening of Prayer on Monday, February

wedding vows. A reception will be held downstairs after
Mass. Please join us as we congratulate all the married couples
in our parish and pray for God’s continued blessings upon them.
Monthly Memorial Mass
Each month Saint Patrick Parish celebrates a special Memorial
Mass in memory of those who died the previous month. We remember
in a special way our loved ones whose funerals were celebrated
in our parish as well as those who were buried in Saint Patrick
Cemetery. The next Monthly Memorial Mass will be celebrated on
Wednesday, February 28 at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome.
Prayer for Vocations
Creator God, life is your gift. Through baptism you
invite us to share in service to others. Give us the courage and
generosity to respond to your call. Bless those who serve you
as priests, religious, deacons and lay ministers. Open the minds
and hearts of men and women to accept your challenge to build
the kingdom. Amen
