FROM
THE PASTOR
I am delighted to announce that His Eminence, Cardinal O’Malley
has assigned the REVEREND HAL N. OBAYASHI as
a Temporary Parochial Vicar at St. Patrick’s Parish. The Archbishop
is aware of the many pastoral needs present in a parish of our
size and he has graciously assigned both Fr. David Goodrow and
Fr. Obayashi to assist me in my pastoral ministry here at St.
Patrick’s. Aware of the many needs within other parishes of
the Archdiocese, we are grateful to Cardinal Sean for lending
me these wonderful priests for however long our parish might
be blessed by their priestly service. Fr. Obayashi was ordained
a priest for service for the Church of Boston in 2002. I am
certain that you will welcome Fr. Obayashi and make him feel
at home within our community. The effective date of this action
is March 1st.
I would like to encourage all parishioners to participate
in the celebration of Mass during this holy season of Lent.
We celebrate Mass on Monday through Saturday during Lent at
8:00 AM. We will also be celebrating Mass on Monday through
Friday at 6:30 AM so that those who have to commute to work
will be able to begin their day around the Altar of God. It
is my hope that as many of you as possible will take advantage
of this wonderful opportunity to deepen your love for God through
your participation at daily Mass.
Another
way in which to enrich your spiritual life and deepen your appreciation
for the mercy of Christ is to frequent the SACRAMENT
OF RECONCILIATION. This year, in every parish
of the Archdiocese of Boston, a priest will be available on
Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:00 PM in order that
we might experience God’s forgiveness through the confession
of and absolution from our sins. There is more information elsewhere
in the bulletin about this new initiative called the LIGHT
IS ON FOR YOU. I want to encourage all parishioners
to receive this wonderful Sacrament and to remind you that in
addition to Wednesday evenings during Lent, Confessions are
heard at St. Patrick’s every Friday evening from 6:30-7:30 PM.
Saturdays from 3:00-4:00 and 7:30-8:00 PM, and Mondays after
the 8:00 AM Mass.
Finally,
I want to invite all parishioners to join us each Friday
evening at 7:30 PM during Lent for the STATIONS
OF THE CROSS and BENEDICTION OF THE BLESSED SACRMENT.
This traditional devotion allows all of us to enter more deeply
into the sacrificial love that Jesus displayed for us when He
freely underwent His passion to free us from our sins.

Stewardship
1st Sunday of Lent
“I have now brought you the first
fruits of the products of the soil which you, O Lord, have given
to me.” - Deuteronomy 26:10
This simple line from the Old Testament presents us with two challenges.
First, do we bring God our first fruits – the best that we have
to offer? Second, do we remember that everything we have has been
given to us by God? We brought nothing into this world and we
can take nothing from it. So why not share what we have while
we are here?
Electronic
Offertory
In
an effort to make it more convenient for parishioners to financially
support Saint Patrick Parish, we now offer you the ability to
make your offertory contributions electronically. Rather than
placing cash or checks in the collection basket each week, you
now have the option to simply have a predetermined monthly amount
withdrawn from your checking or savings account that will be automatically
deposited into the Parish Offertory. Transactions will be made
on the 15th of each month. If you are interested in signing up
for electronic offertory payments, or if you would like additional
information, please contact Jean Lorrey in the Parish Office at
508-653-1093. Thank you.
Monthly Memorial Mass
Each
month Saint Patrick Parish celebrates a special Memorial Mass
in memory of those who died the previous month. We remember in
a special way our loved ones whose funerals were celebrated in
our parish as well as those who were buried in Saint Patrick Cemetery.
The next Monthly Memorial Mass will be celebrated next
Saturday, February 27 at 4:00 p.m. Mass. All are welcome.
Rest
in Peace
Let us pray for those who have
died, especially
Harold L. Barbieri, Jr.
& Wilbur Picard
May
they and all of our faithful departed rest in peace.

confession. Please also reach out to the Catholics you know that
have been away from the regular practice of our faith and invite
them to seize this chance to begin again. The Archdiocese’s website

Prayer
for Lent
Good
and loving God,
Each year you give us this season of Lent to turn our hearts and
minds back to you. May the prayer we offer during this season
draw us closer to you in love as we seek forgiveness for our sins.
May our fasting help us see that even as this world is a gift
from you it is still passing away and will not endure. May our
almsgiving honor you as we care for our brothers and sisters whose
need is great and whose hope is in you. Help us in this holy season
to be reconciled with you and with any whom we have harmed so
that we may celebrate an Easter of eternal joy. Amen.
Safety for All
In an effort to make sure our building is a secure place for
all during the celebration of Mass, parents please accompany
your children when they need to use the rest room. In this
way we will all be assured that our oungsters are safe at all
times.
