FROM
THE PASTOR
Last Saturday, we held a Day of Reflection for members
of the Parish Pastoral Council, the Finance Council, the heads
of ministries, and members of the Parish Staff. I had invited
the Rev. Robert J. McMillan, S.J., the Director of Strategic Planning
for the Archdiocese, to lead us as we prayerfully contemplated
the various and creative ways that we can confront the many challenges
that will be ours as our parish moves towards the future. I was
most impressed with the enthusiastic spirit of the day and the
wonderful insights that we shared. I know that all who attended
this day left with a renewed sense of appreciation for God’s goodness
to our parish and with a deeper commitment to His service. It
is this commitment that will encourage our resolve to “put out
into the deep waters” as we continue to collaborate on addressing
the future needs of St. Patrick’s Parish.
As you are already aware, I have established a PARISH
PROPERTY TASK FORCE that is continuing to explore the
many options that are available to us as we determine the appropriate
usages of our facilities. Many of you have inquired about the
future of our school building and I wish that I was in a position
to offer a definitive response. However, there are some legal
concerns that be must be satisfactorily resolved before we can
proceed with any future plan. I am continuing to meet with the
members of the Task Force and I am most grateful for their diligence
and their expertise. Once again, I am reminded of how blessed
we are as a parish family with these visible manifestations of
God’s goodness. May God bless all of you for your continued support,
dedication, and most especially, your prayers. Truly, I don’t
know what I would do without all of you.
I want to congratulate the young men of our parish
CYO BASKETBALL for this year’s outstanding season.
One of our teams was in the Regional Play-offs last weekend, and
although our team lost the game, they will always be winners to
us. I am so grateful to Mr. GRAHAM BRIGGS, NATE ISENOR,
TOM COBB, TIM DOOLAN, RICHARD BOWERS, and TOM LANGFORD
for their willingness to coach our parish teams. I am confident
that we will be a formidable team to be reckoned with next year.
Finally, let me remind all parishioners of the upcoming
BOSTON MEN’S AND WOMEN’S CATHOLIC CONFERENCE that
will be held next weekend. There is transportation available to
the Boston Convention Center where the Conference will be held.
If you wish to reserve a spot on the bus, please contact Nancy
Maguire (508)655-1017 (for the Women’s) or Mike DelVecchio 508-651-3406
(for the Men’s).

Stewardship
And he told them this parable: "There once was
a person who had a fig tree planted in his orchard, and when he
came in search of fruit on it but found none, he said to the gardener,
'For three years now I have come in search of fruit on this fig
tree but have found none. (So) cut it down. Why should it exhaust
the soil?' He said to him in reply, 'Sir, leave it for this year
also, and I shall cultivate the ground around it and fertilize
it; it may bear fruit in the future. If not you can cut it down.”
(Luke 13:6-9)
The parable in today’s Gospel clearly warns that we,
like the fig tree, will be judged by our fruit. While God mercifully
provides us with time and opportunity, let us give witness to
our faith with deeds of kindness and generosity!
Volunteers needed
Volunteers are needed to help with the preparations
for our upcoming Parish Lenten Mission that will be held over
three consecutive evenings, March 26-28. We will need help with
refreshments, telephone calls, and other duties that will help
support this prayerful event. Sign up sheets are available this
weekend after Mass, or you may call the Parish Office at 508-653-1093
to volunteer. Thank you for your help.
Music Ministry
The Music Ministry would like to extend an invitation
to all parishioners to participate in the Adult Choir Program
during Lent and the Easter Season. Instead of giving something
up for Lent, why not sacrifice a few hours out of your week to
help strengthen your Parish’s Music Program? The giving of one’s
time would be a great Lenten Offering! Your presence will enable
us to enrich a great tradition of song in the celebration of our
most sacred time of the year. The Adult Choir rehearses on Tuesday
Evenings at 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm in the Joseph Center and at 11:00
in the Upper Church before the 11:30 Mass on Sunday mornings.
For further information please contact Martin Kelly, Music Director
at 617-489-2472.
LIFT
Join us for LIFT – an exciting new monthly worship
event which includes vibrant praise and worship music, dynamic,
challenging speakers and Eucharistic Adoration. Lift is for all
ages. Be with us on Tuesday, March 13th as we welcome Fr. Damien
Ledoux as our speaker. The evening runs from
7-9 pm at Fontbonne Academy, 930 Brook Road, Milton, MA. More
information can be found on our website at www.liftedhigher.com.
THANK YOU!!!!
On Friday, March 2nd, the first Kid’s Game Night was
held here at St. Patrick’s. There were approximately 50 children
who gathered to play games, sing, dance and most importantly socialize
as a Parish Community. We would like to thank all the volunteers
that made this event possible. With your help, we were able to
give our children a safe environment to relax and have fun!!!
Parish Lenten Supper
Friday, March 23rd
6:30pm in the school gym.
Open to all St. Patrick Parishioners and is free.
If you have an old family recipe or just want to
spend some time preparing a warm meal please consider donating
a pot of soup. When preparing soup, please remember Friday is
a day of abstinence so no meat or meat based broth should be used.
Please join fellow parishioners as we prepare to celebrate during
the Lenten Mission.
For planning purposes, if you are interested in attending or
donating soup, please call Lisa at (508)545-1706. You may also
sign up in the vestibule of the church after all Masses this weekend.
Nursing Home Ministry
The colorful pile of pink and red envelopes that arrived around
February 14 at Riverbend Nursing Home looked quite festive! The
residents appreciated the Valentine's greetings. They thank you
very much for your kindness.
To the parishioners who volunteered to send St. Patrick's Day
greetings to the Riverbend residents, the feast is "right
around the corner." Thank you in advance for continuing this
ministry.
If you have any questions, please contact Jane Teepe at (508)
