Catholic Appeal
Giving in Faith, Giving with Love
The weekend of May 5-6 will be Catholic Appeal
Weekend in our parish. God calls each of us to share
our gifts with others for the building up of his kingdom. Cardinal
Seán is asking every Catholic household to participate
in this year’s Catholic Appeal, which funds the many programs
and services of our Archdiocese of Boston. The Catholic Appeal
is to our Archdiocese what the Offertory is to our parish - so
your participation and support are critical. On Catholic Appeal
Weekend, we will be showing a video message from Cardinal Seán
and asking every Catholic household to make a pledge. Please begin
to prayerfully consider how you will participate. All gifts –
of whatever amount – matter. Thank you.
Adult Confirmation
West Region of the Archdiocese of Boston
Every year, in each of the Archdiocese’s five regions,
the Regional Auxiliary Bishop offers the Sacrament of Confirmation
for adult men and women who have not yet been confirmed. The Sacrament
of Confirmation will be administered here at Saint Patrick Church
on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. by the Most Reverend
Walter J. Edyvean, Regional Bishop of Boston. While Confirmation
preparation usually occurs at one’s home parish, adult candidates
from parishes throughout the West Region of the Archdiocese will
be confirmed at this time. All are invited to attend this Mass
and join us for refreshments downstairs after the Confirmation.
EVENING OF PRAYER
Monday, May 14th, 2007
Please mark your calendars to join us for the next
monthly Evening of Prayer on Monday, May 14th, at 7:30 PM. We
will pray the STATIONS OF THE RESURRECTION which begin with Christ’s
rising from the dead and end with Pentecost. Let us walk this
pilgrimage of faith together as daughters and sons of the Light
and witnesses of the Risen Lord. We will meditate on the Resurrection
of Christ and discover the pathway of Light that Christ blazes
through our lives. All are welcome. Please bring a friend and
join us for refreshments following the service.

Stewardship
When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon
Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?"
He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you."
He said to him, "Feed my lambs." He then said to him
a second time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?"
He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you."
He said to him, "Tend my sheep." He said to him the
third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter
was distressed that he had said to him a third time, "Do
you love me?" and he said to him, "Lord, you know everything;
you know that I love you." (Jesus) said to him, "Feed
my sheep. (John 21:15-17)
In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells Peter again and again, “If you
love Me, feed my sheep.” He says the same to each of us, “If you
love Me, use the gifts I have given you to serve your brothers
and sisters.”

Bake Sale for Camp Arrowhead
Next weekend is our bake sale which supports Camp Arrowhead. This
specialized camp for physically challenged children is operated
by the Natick Recreation Department. Children attend this fun-filled
camp and participate in an array of fun activities. Proceeds are
donated to help in this worthwhile program. Your support is greatly
appreciated.
Religious Education
St. Patrick’s Religious Education Program is soon
to complete its school year and we believe it has been an overall
success. In the period building up to this fall’s opening we acknowledged
that the focus for the 2006/2007 Academic Year would be rebuilding.
The strides that we made in organization and curriculum are a
credit to the patience, perseverance and talent of an extraordinarily
generous corps of volunteers. All of the St. Patrick Parish community
appreciates the work of our catechists, aides and other volunteers.
I also like to think that we did a lot of listening and observing
this year. Based upon the feedback received, we are already working
with Religious Education consultants to furnish additional and
improved lesson plans and other support material for instructors.
Several teachers will be asked to review drafts of the support
material during the summer. Building on our past success, there
is every reason to expect St. Patrick’s Religious Education Program
will be among the best in our Archdiocese!
Any successful program relies on the support of its participants
and a dedicated corps of volunteers. However, the children’s enthusiasm
for learning about their faith is proportional to the interest
and encouragement evidenced by their parents. Raising our children
in the faith is a sacred responsibility of parenthood. Despite
the multiple demands of school, athletics and other activities,
please be vigilant about your children’s participation and attendance.
Thanks again to all students, teachers, aides and volunteers
for what you have accomplished. Entrusting our effort to the patronage
of Our Lady Seat of Wisdom may we continue to build on our success.
