FROM THE PASTOR

I would like to invite all parishioners to join us this Monday evening, April 26th for our MONTHLY EVENING OF PRAYER. The theme for this evening will be the "Via Lucis" and we will pray together the Stations of the Resurrection as we reflect upon our union with the Risen Christ. This Evening of Prayer is part of the ongoing spiritual renewal of our parish and through our common prayer we hope to discover the pathway of light that Christ shines through the lives of His people. We will conclude this special moment of grace with Exposition and Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament as we contemplate the new life that is ours through our Divine Savior, Jesus Christ truly present in the Eucharist. The evening will begin in the Church at 7:30 PM and there will be refreshments served afterwards in the Hall. I hope that all will take advantage of this unique opportunity to grow closer to the Lord and to one another as we continue our pilgrimage of faith. Please consider inviting a friend, neighbor, or family member to accompany you in order that others might discover what you already know to be true: JESUS IS RISEN.

In accordance with Archdiocesan policy, all adult and young adult volunteers are now required to participate in the Child Abuse Prevention Program currently underway in our parish. I have asked the members of the Child Abuse Prevention Team to facilitate this undertaking and they have planned two sessions. The first is scheduled for Tuesday, April 27th from 9:00-11:00 AM and the second is scheduled for Thursday, May 27th from 7:00-9:00 PM. The purpose of this endeavor is to heighten our collective awareness of the dangers of child abuse and to educate us in the recognition of this evil. I appreciate your cooperation in this matter and although it may be inconvenient for some, our children's welfare and safety demands that we give this our utmost attention.

On behalf of the Retired Priests of the Archdiocese of Boston, I would like to express our gratitude to all of you for your extraordinary generosity in the EASTER OFFERTORY COLLECTION. As you know, the entire Easter Collection is used to aid the health and retirement needs of our senior priests and this year, we were able to forward over $ 20,000.00.because of your kindness. There are no words to adequately convey our appreciation for all that you do for these wonderful men of God who have served the Church so faithfully for so many years. I know that they will remember your compassion to them as they offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass asking God to reward you for we know that we never could.

ATTENTION ALL VOLUNTEERS

ALL LECTORS, EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS AND ADULT ALTAR SERVERS
As many are aware all CCD Volunteers were required to complete the Child Abuse Prevention Program per directive of the Archdiocese and Conference of Bishops. This consisted of 2 videos and discussion. Those attending found the program very informative. WE ARE NOW REQUIRED to have ALL VOLUNTEERS attend a session of this program. We have scheduled three sessions:

Apr 14 - 9 to 11 AM  Apr 27 - 9 to 11 AM   May 27 - 7 to 9 PM

All sessions will be in the lower church hall. Please call Deacon Crump at the rectory (508 653-1093) to schedule attending one of these sessions. Interested parishioners may also attend, but please let us know when you will be attending. If one of these sessions is not convenient, please call Deacon Crump at the rectory and inform him of your availability and we will schedule a session in the near future. Again, all the volunteers must complete this program.

EVENING OF PRAYER

Please join us for the next Parish Evening of Prayer on Monday, April 26th, at 7:30 p.m. We will pray the Stations of the Resurrection which begin with Christ's rising from the dead and end with Pentecost. Let us walk this pilgrimage of faith together as daughters and sons of the Light and witnesses of the Risen Lord. We will meditate on the Resurrection of Christ and discover the pathway of Light that Christ blazes through our lives.

We are also looking for volunteers to help with the May Evening of Prayer which will be held on Monday, May 10th at 7:30 p.m. We will be praying the iving Rosary as we did last year, and we need people to volunteer to help hold candles and pray the rosary with us. Please let us know if you are willing to help by praying one Hail Mary or one Our Father that evening. Sign up sheets are available in the rear of the Church, or you may contact the Rectory during the week to sign up.

Thank you, and we look forward to our participation in all the Evenings of Prayer. Please invite your friends and family to join us for these prayerful evenings as well.

BIRTHRIGHT CARNATIONS

The Mother's Day Carnation Project is the only fund raising event held by Birthright of Framingham. How can someone who is ill at home still feel connected to the parish?
What skills do I need to fill this need?
Consider our six week course: Tuesday evenings
April 13-May 18, 7-9:30pm
St Ann's Parish Hall, Wayland

Call 508-358-2985 to register.

PERPETUAL ADORATION

Perpetual Adoration was started at our parish over eight years ago.
The majority of the adorers have been faithful and committed since the beginning but, unfortunately, for various reasons such as age, death, transfers, there is always a need for new adorers.
Are you someone who likes to stay up late? How about committing to one hour a week between Midnight and 6am. Or are you retired? Do you like to rest after lunch, relax, or watch television? How about doing one hour a week between 12 noon and 5pm.
When Jesus called His apostles from their work to follow Him, He knew they heard Him, not only with their ears, but within their hearts. They heard Him. They listened to Him. They followed Him. They loved Him.
Hear Him with your heart. Come closer to Him. Find One Hour in the week when you can share in the peace and quiet of his abiding love.
Are you listening? Will you follow? Will you call? Carole (508) 653-0371

Next Step to Preserve Traditional Marriage

Parishioners and all like-minded persons interested in learning what the next step is to preserve Traditional Marriage in Massachusetts are urged to attend a Marriage Affirmation Rally in support of traditional marriage on the Natick Common at 2 PM on Sunday, April 25. The featured speaker is the founder of the Article 8 Alliance with a tentative appearance by a well-known State official and others. Take advantage of this opportunity to learn of an action plan to support our Catholic tradition and belief.

COED SOFTBALL

Looking for Fun & Fellowship? Want to meet some fellow parishioners? Shake off Old Man Winter and join St. Pat's slow pitch team. Games are played in Wellesley on Thursday and Sunday evenings beginning early May through June with playoffs in July. Experience not essential but be ready for fun. All parishioners (male & female) age 18 or older are eligible. Please call Ron & Mary Whinnem at 508-655-1463.

Please talk about this opportunity with your children. This is a great opportunity to serve God and the parish community. We hope to make this a banner year for Altar Servers.
Please call Kelly McPherson 508-655-4410 for further information.

Keep the Promise of Hunger and Health

Bread for the World - Write a letter to help fund hunger & Health

On the weekend of May 2, our parish will participate in Bread for the World's 2004 Offering of Letters, Keep the Promise on Hunger and Health. Our letters this year will ask Congress to keep the promises they have already made by fully funding the Millennium challenge Account of 2003 (development assistance to the poorest countries) and the Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief ($15 Billion promised over the next five years). Bread For The World calls upon leaders to keep the promise to fight hunger and disease in these important new initiatives without slashing existing programs that effectively reduce poverty around the world.

Bread for the World is a Christian voice for ending hunger. A nonpartisan citizen's movement of 50,000 people of faith, including 2,500 churches, BFW members help hungry people by writing, calling and visiting our nation's decision makers about legislation that addresses hunger in our communities and around the world.

Next week come to the Lower Church Hall and take a few minutes to write a letter.
