FROM THE PASTOR
Most of you have already received the packets of information for the PROMISE FOR TOMORROW Campaign and I urge you to prayerfully consider making a generous pledge. The Promise For Tomorrow Campaign is a $300 million initiative to fortify the future of our Church and it will have a positive impact on all of the church's ministries, including the parishes. This campaign is of critical importance to the life of the Church in Boston and by extension to St. Patrick's Parish. Your gift will be used solely for the purpose of supporting the mission of the Church in the areas of healthcare, education, social services, and ministerial formation. Twenty-five percent of all money collected will remain here at St. Patrick's for our own pastoral needs. Over the past few weeks, I have been meeting with parishioners to explain in more detail the campaign and quite a few families have taken advantage of this opportunity. The goal of this effort is not merely to raise money but to allow for each family to make an informed decision. The campaign has been taking place throughout the Archdiocese and over the past six weeks, over seven million dollars has been raised. Here at St. Patrick's, we have already raised close to $400,000.00. This weekend is our PROMISE FOR TOMORROW COMMITMENT WEEKEND. Hopefully, you have already had the chance to read over the materials that we sent you and you are ready to make a pledge in this historic appeal. I would ask that each family complete a card this weekend, even if you have already made a pledge or if you would like more time to consider one. I want to thank you for your generous support of this effort. And, I end this request with a statement that was forwarded to me last week: YOU CAN GIVE WITHOUT LOVING, BUT YOU CAN'T LOVE WITHOUT GIVING.
I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the children who received their FIRST HOLY COMMUNION this weekend and to express my thanks to all who helped prepare them for this moment. The parents, teachers, catechists, and Religious Education staff have worked so hard to bring this day about and I am most grateful. May the joy of this day be a reminder to all of God's great gift of Self and enable all of us to face the future with renewed confidence knowing that He is with us always.
We are in need of volunteers to help with a ST.PATRICK'S CEMETERY CLEAN-UP. We hope that parishioners of all ages will join us on this Saturday, May 10th and next Saturday, May 17th to help us prepare the Cemetery for Memorial Day. There is much to be done and we need your assistance. We will be cleaning up the grounds of the debris left from the winter and planting flowers and doing some landscaping. I hope that all of you will give a little bit of your time so that we can make this sacred space a place of comfort and consolation.
Finally, I want to invite you to join us on next Monday, May 12th for our MONTHLY EVENING OF PRAYER. Since May is the month of Mary, we will be praying a LIVING ROSARY. We are looking for parishioners to help us in this prayer. Please see one of the members of the Spiritual Development Board in the Lobby after Mass for more details.

SEAMLESS GARMENT REFLECTIONS
As Catholics, we can celebrate the new millennium by recommitting ourselves to carry the values of the gospel and Church into the public square. As citizens, we can and must participate in the debates and choices over the values, vision and leaders that are taking our nation into the new century. This dual call of faith and citizenship is at the heart of what it means to be a Catholic in the United States.

RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY
Thank you for all your generous support for Camp Arrowhead. The money raised is greatly appreciated by the Natick Recreational Department.
The Mother's Day Carnation Project is Birthright's only fundraising event of the year. Carnations will be available next weekend after all Masses. Your donation of one dollar supports Birthright in Framingham. This agency helps women who are pregnant and in need. The Birthright center is staffed entirely by volunteers who offer support to women who are in crisis. Birthright is dedicated to the sanctity of all human life and is non-political and interdenominational. Your support is deeply appreciated.
