FROM THE PASTOR
Once again, I would like to call your attention to the Annual Catholic Appeal that is currently underway in our parish and throughout the entire Archdiocese of Boston. The Catholic Appeal provides all of us with a unique opportunity to put into action our belief that we are all part of the same community of faith. St. Paul reminds us that through Baptism, we are members of the one Body of Christ and sharers in a common mission of service to all of our brothers and sisters. Your generous financial support of the Catholic Appeal enables the Archbishop to fulfill his role of providing pastoral, education, social, and spiritual services to the people entrusted to his care. Archbishop Sean needs our help because the needs are great and the resources are limited. I urge you to make a substantial contribution to this Appeal because of the tremendous difference that you can make in the lives of those less fortunate than us. I remind you that the Annual Appeal is to the Archdiocese what the Sunday Offertory is to us. I would like to suggest that you use the Pledge cards that are available in the pews in order to be able to make a larger financial gift to this year's appeal and to enable you to make regular payments throughout the year. Together in Faith we can bring comfort, support, and consolation of the Gospel to our brothers and sisters and truly make a difference in our world.
I want to invite all parishioners to join us this Monday evening for our Monthly Evening of Prayer as we continue our efforts of spiritual renewal of our parish. This month we will offer a LIVING ROSARY as we pray together the Luminous mysteries of the Rosary asking the Blessed Mother's powerful intercession for all of us as we strive to imitate her example of faithful service to her Divine Son. The Rosary will be prayed in the Church on Monday, May 10th at 7:30 PM and I hope that all who are able will join us for this moment of grace.
As we observe MOTHER'S DAY this weekend, I want to express my profound admiration to those who sacrifice so much for their children. We have a tendency to celebrate so many people in life but truly, no one has a more pivotal role than a mother's influence in the life of her child. With grateful hearts, we gather around God's Altar to offer our Prayer of Thanksgiving for the great blessing that our mothers are to our lives. We commend to His tender care those mothers who have died and gone before us in faith and we pray that God may grant them the reward of their goodness to us.
The members of the RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY will be at the doors of the Church this weekend selling carnations as a visible sign of your support for the dignity of every human person. We stand in solidarity with all who proclaim that all life is sacred from the moment of conception until its natural end. However, it is not enough for us to simply affirm the right of every human person to life; we must take concrete steps to insure that every life is treated with the reverence that God expects. The proceeds from this sale are used to aid women who find themselves in difficult circumstances because of their pregnancy. Please be generous in support of this important effort to safeguard and to protect our unborn children.

STEWARDSHIP
In today's Gospel, Jesus gives His disciples - and us - a new commandment: "Love one another." Good stewards who spend their time and talents in service to others are well on their way to fulfilling this commandment.
EVENING OF PRAYER
Please join us on Monday evening, May 10th, at 7:30 p.m. as we gather together in faith for our Monthly Evening of Prayer. In honor of our Blessed Mother Mary, we will pray the Living Rosary with Scripture and Song. Each bead of the rosary will be represented by a parishioner holding a candle. We need parishioners to help us form this Living Rosary; sign up sheets are in the rear of the Church after all Masses this weekend.
Please mark your calendar, invite your friends, and join us for this special prayerful experience. Refreshments will be served downstairs after the service.
Beatitudes For All Mothers
Blessed are you when you suffer with the very young, the very old and the very lonely, for you have compassion.
Blessed are you when you greet the world with joy, laughter and anticipation, for you have courage.
Blessed are you when you listen and hear and extend your hands as a friend, for you have understanding.
Blessed are you when you give simply, love deeply, and walk joyfully in life, for you have sincerity.
Blessed are you when you live intensely and sing life's alleluias, for you have awareness.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Thank You
To all those who helped and participated in the May Crowning, we honor Mary as our model and protector without whom we would not have Jesus our Savior. We thank especially Sharon Cowles, Kelly McPherson, Gail Healey and Dina Thabbetts for their help in making this year's May Crowning a special event. We also thank the young women who lead us in our praise this morning.

Your support is deeply appreciated.
Celebrate Mother's Day… As it was intended …to commemorate the ideal of peace in our world.
Mother's Day was originally "Mother's Day of Peace." It was conceived as a day to encourage women to rise up and work for peace. In 1872, Julia Ward Howe, the author of the lyrics to the Battle Hymn of the Republic, was horrified by the ravages of the Civil War that claimed the lives of countless mothers' sons. She suggested that a day be set aside each year when mothers could grieve their losses from war and join together to build a world that is nurturing, safe and compassionate for their children and future generations.
This Mother's Day we ask you to remember its original intent. Honor the special women in your life by donating some of the money that you might otherwise spend on a Mother's Day gift to a humanitarian organization committed to relieving the suffering brought on by war.

PERPETUAL ADORATION
Perpetual Adoration was started at our parish over eight years ago.
The majority of the adorers have been faithful and committed since the beginning but, unfortunately, for various reasons such as age, death, transfers, there is always a need for new adorers.
Are you someone who likes to stay up late? How about committing to one hour a week between Midnight and 6am. Or are you retired? Do you like to rest after lunch, relax, or watch television? How about doing one hour a week between 12 noon and 5pm.
When Jesus called His apostles from their work to follow Him, He knew they heard Him, not only with their ears, but within their hearts. They heard Him. They listened to Him. They followed Him. They loved Him.
Hear Him with your heart. Come closer to Him. Find One Hour in the week when you can share in the peace and quiet of his abiding love.
Are you listening? Will you follow? Will you call? Carole (508) 653-0371
