FROM THE PASTOR

In the name of the entire parish community, I want to extend a special word of welcome to the new parishioners who have joined our parish during the past year. Many of you come from wonderful faith communities that have had a rich tradition of commitment and service to the Church. We are celebrating a MASS OF WELCOME today at 11:30 AM and are thanking God for the blessing that He has bestowed upon us through you. We are enriched by your presence among us and we eagerly await your active participation in the life of our parish. I also hope that you will make yourselves at home here and that together we may move toward a better future as we unite ourselves to the Source and Summit of all life: Jesus Christ our Lord.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my deep gratitude to the REVEREND THOMAS S. RAFFERTY who graciously accepted the responsibility of directing our parish Religious Education program. We have been blessed by his dedicated service and have witnessed great results from his leadership in this important ministry. Fr. Rafferty would agree that he was fortunate to be assisted by wonderful people such as LISA CORREIA, who coordinated the program, and by the many catechists who generously gave their time to teach our Catholic faith to our young people. To all those who offered their services to make this year’s program such a success, we offer our appreciation for your commitment, your sacrifice, and your love which you gave to this parish and to our future.

I would like to offer my prayerful congratulations to the young children who recently received their FIRST HOLY COMMUNION. I am most grateful to their parents, teachers, Lisa Correia, and Fr. Rafferty for preparing them for this moment of grace. May the Lord Jesus, truly present in the Eucharist, bring them great joy and renewed strength as they continue along their spiritual journey toward His Kingdom.

In keeping with the policy of the Archdiocese of Boston with regard to conducting background checks for all clergy, staff, and volunteers, we will be asking all volunteers to complete a CORI (criminal offender record information) to be submitted to the Archdiocesan Office of Volunteer Resources. This is an annual process followed by all parishes without exception to insure the safety and well-being of our children. All volunteers (17 years and older) will be asked to complete a 2007 CORI form and return it to the Parish Office. Your cooperation is most appreciated.

Stewardship

"Behold, I am coming soon. I bring with me the recompense I will give to each according to his deeds. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end." (Revelations 22:12-13)

The second reading today contains the somber warning that Jesus is coming soon and will bring to each person the reward that his or her conduct deserves. Has my stewardship of the blessings entrusted to me been such that I could respond joyfully, “Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!”?

2007 ANNUAL CORI CHECK

In keeping with the Archdiocesan policy for conducting background checks for all clergy, staff, and volunteers, all parish volunteers (age 17 and older) must complete a CORI (criminal offender record information) form that will be submitted to the Archdiocesan Office of Volunteer Resources.

This is an annual process required of all parishes within the Archdiocese of Boston, and we at Saint Patrick Parish have been asked to conduct our annual CORI checks during the month of May. The forms were mailed to all volunteers during the week of May 7th.

The Archdiocese requires that you return the completed form in person as you will be asked to show your driver’s license or other form of identification. In order to facilitate this process, members of the Parish Staff and Parish Pastoral Council will be on hand after all Masses THIS weekend, May 19-20th, to collect the forms and answer any questions.

Your cooperation is most appreciated in helping us comply with these regulations. Thank you.

Monthly Memorial Mass

Each month Saint Patrick Parish celebrates a special Memorial Mass in memory of those who died the previous month. We remember in a special way our loved ones whose funerals were celebrated in our parish as well as those who were buried in Saint Patrick Cemetery. The next Monthly Memorial Mass will be celebrated THIS Wednesday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome.

ST. PATRICK’S VBS IS COMING……
And we could use your help!

St. Patrick’s Summer VBS goes to the Great Bible Reef this year.
The message for day 1 is “God’s People Care.” That means we care about ourselves, each other, and other life on our planet. One way we can show this is by reusing or recycling items we might otherwise throw in the trash. Some suggestions are listed below of items we’d like to “reuse.” We’ll take your formerly trash-bound items and turn them into coral, fish, dolphins, etc.
We’ll be collecting on June 2 and 3 before and after each Mass on those days.

Here are suggestions of items we could “reuse” for our scene creation:
• Egg cartons
• Wire hangers (like dry cleaners use)
• Tubes: paper towel, wrapping paper, carpet tube
• Packing materials: bubble wrap, styrofoam, peanuts, air packs, tissue paper

We want to thank everyone from St. Patrick’s Parish who has participated in the 2007 Catholic Appeal. Your contributions help fund the good works of our Archdiocese and will improve the lives of many in our faith community. This is the weekend for baby gifts for needy women and their babies. Please put your unwrapped gift in any of the baby baskets located at the exits of the church. Your help is deeply appreciated.

Birthright Carnations

Birthright is grateful to the members of St. Patrick’s Parish for the generous support received on Mother’s Day. The proceeds will enable us to maintain our center in Framingham and to continue our assistance to pregnant women. Our sincere thanks.

St. Vincent de Paul Weekly Food Collection

Parishioners are reminded of the ongoing food collection for the needy members of our community. Donations of non-perishable food products and non-food items may be left at the left side of the church vestibule at any service. Items are then distributed to various food pantries. Some especially needed items at this time are: canned stews, cereal, coffee, 100% fruit drinks, tomato products, toothpaste and shampoo.
Your generosity in assisting individuals and families who are unable to meet some of their basic needs is greatly appreciated!
