FROM THE PASTOR

I am delighted to announce that His Excellency, Archbishop Sean O'Malley has appointed the REVEREND JASON W. WORTHLEY as Parochial Vicar at St. Patrick's Parish. Fr. Worthley was ordained a Priest last Saturday, May 23rd after having completing his theological studies at St. John's Seminary in Brighton. I am most grateful to Archbishop Sean for his willingness to assign a newly ordained priest to this parish and grateful as well to Fr. Worthley for his enthusiastic response to this assignment. Fr. Worthley is a native of Rockport where his parents still reside. He possesses many outstanding qualities including a warm sense of compassion and a wonderful sense of humor. I am looking forward to sharing the pastoral ministry with this gifted young priest and I am certain that Fr. Worthley's ministry will be a source of great blessings to this parish. Fr. Worthley will begin his assignment here at St. Patrick's on June 8th and I know that you will do everything that you can to make him feel at home here.

As you know, Archbishop Sean announced his pastoral plan of the Reconfiguration of Parishes within the Archdiocese of Boston. The process that has lead to this plan involved the active participation of over 4500 lay and clergy throughout the Archdiocese. Every effort was made to provide for, wherever possible, a Catholic presence in each town within the Archdiocese. The limited availability of clergy, the size of the parish church building, the proximity to other churches in the area, the decline in Mass attendance, the low index of sacramental activity, the state of parish property and the financial condition of the individual parishes were also used in determining which parishes should remain open. A great deal of time and prayer went into the final determination by the Archbishop in an attempt to arrive at an equitable decision that would enable the Church to be more vibrant as she attempts to fulfill her mission of evangelization. I am obviously delighted that St. Patrick's Parish will remain open and yet I am acutely aware of the emotional trauma that is being experienced by the priests and people of those parishes designated to close. The parishioners and clergy of Sacred Heart Parish in South Natick and St. James Parish in Wellesley have served the Church well and are leaving us a wonderful legacy to continue as we bear faithful witness to the Gospel. I express my profound sentiments of respect and admiration for the manner in which these parish communities have furthered the mission of the Church during the period of their existence. The great sacrifices and apostolic works of these families of faith have enriched this local community in so many ways and we will be forever in their debt. I want to assure our brothers and sisters in these parishes of our sincere desire to welcome them with open arms and invite them to share with us their gifts so that we can together continue to build up the Kingdom. During these days of transition, all of us should to be mindful of the need to foster an environment that will enable all of us to answer God's call to spread the Gospel. As we walk together in faith towards the future, we should have confidence that by our reliance upon God's grace and our generous sharing of personal resources we will yield a great harvest.

STEWARDSHIP

One miracle of Pentecost was that, despite their diversity, each listener heard God's word in his or her own language. The meaning for stewardship is that, by sharing the gifts poured out on us by the Holy spirit, we will be empowered to meet the needs of our brothers and sisters, whatever they may be.

SEAMLESS GARMENT REFLECTION
Promoting a Consistent Ethic of Life

"To feed the hungry and shelter the homeless is not a simple invitation to charity. It is a call to justice. The Catechism states it clearly: "The Eucharist commits us to the poor. To receive in truth the Body and Blood of Christ given up for us, we must recognize Christ in the poorest." This is the measure of our orthodoxy."
Christine Vladmiroff OSB Pax Christi USA

Eucharistic Adoration

Perpetual Adoration was started at our parish over eight years ago.

The majority of the adorers have been faithful and committed since the beginning but, unfortunately, for various reasons such as age, death, transfers, there is always a need for new adorers.

Are you someone who likes to stay up late? How about committing to one hour a week between Midnight and 6 a.m. Or are you retired? Do you like to rest after lunch, relax, or watch television? How about doing one hour a week between 12 noon and 5 p.m.

When Jesus called His apostles from their work to follow Him, He knew they heard Him, not only with their ears, but within their hearts. They heard Him. They listened to Him. They followed Him. They loved Him.

Hear Him with your heart. Come closer to Him. Find One Hour in the week when you can share in the peace and quiet of his abiding love. Are you listening? Will you follow? Will you call? Carole (508) 653-0371.
