FROM THE PASTOR
This past Friday, June 6th, I had the opportunity to observe the twenty-fifth anniversary of my ordination to the Sacred Priesthood. I can still remember as though it were yesterday the sense of peace and joy that descended upon me as the late Cardinal Medeiros invoked the Holy Spirit and imposed his hands on my head conferring on me the privilege of serving the Lord Jesus as a priest of the Roman Catholic Church. These past 25 years have been full of so many blessings and I have always considered my vocation to the priesthood the most precious gift of my life. This particular anniversary is the result of so many people who have supported and encouraged me in my priestly ministry by their prayers over these past years. Each year, on the actual day, I have spent the day in prayer at a monastery, reflecting upon God's abundant goodness and giving thanks to God for this awesome role of service. I am certainly aware of my own unworthiness for such a sublime calling and I beg God's grace to serve His Church as a faithful, happy, and holy priest. There is no better expression of gratitude to God than the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and no more effective prayer than the Prayer of Christ that I have been privileged to offer each day for these past twenty-five years. I want to invite all of you who are able to join me as I offer a special MASS OF THANKSGIVING on Friday evening, June 13th at 7:30 PM in the Church. I wish to offer this Mass for all of you who are so dear to me and who have been my constant reminders of God's great love that He may bless you for your many acts of kindness to me.
I am delighted to announce that we have invited Mr. MARTIN KELLY to become the new Director of Music for our parish. Martin has been critically acclaimed for his artistic diversity in song and opera. Martin studies voice at the University if Missouri, Eastman School of Music, and Boston University. Martin is a well-known tenor soloist and is appeared with such groups as the Boston Baroque, Handel and Haydn Society, and the Boston Pops. Here at St. Patrick's Parish, Martin will work in conjunction with our organist, George Burke, in enhancing our liturgical music ministry. Martin will officially begin his services in July.
This Monday evening, June 9th, we will hold our MONTHLY EVENING OF PRAYER at 7:30 PM in the Church. This evening will consist of Evening Prayer and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament and will focus on our prayer for unity within the parish family. I hope that all will make a special effort to join us for some quiet time in the presence of the Lord as we acknowledge our need for His grace to serve Him faithfully. There will be refreshments served in the Hall at the conclusion of the evening.
Finally, I wish to extend my prayerful best wishes to the members of the CLASS OF 2003 who will graduate today from Natick High School. I also extend our congratulations to CHRISTIAN MUCHA, our organist on Saturdays, who recently graduated from Ashland High School. We pray that God, Who has begun this good work in you, will bring it to completion. May your future be filled with great joy and may the knowledge that you have gained be used to benefit all of God's people. We are indeed proud of all of you.
