FROM THE PASTOR
This weekend we observe FATHER’S DAY
and this provides us the opportunity to acknowledge the debt of
gratitude that we owe to our fathers, living and deceased. The
many sacrifices that fathers have made for their children often
go unnoticed or unappreciated until much later in life when we
reflect upon our lives. This day we thank God for those who have
enriched our lives as fathers and we ask His continued blessings
upon them as they try to be the best of teachers to their children.
We also commend to God’s tender care those fathers who have gone
before us in faith. May God reward them by granting them a place
at the table in His heavenly Kingdom. HAPPY FATHER’S DAY.
As the summer rolls around and we start to think about vacations,
I want to ask all parishioners to make a contribution to the ANNUAL
CATHOLIC APPEAL. We are certainly fortunate to be able
to do many things in our lives but there are many among us in
this local Church of Boston who can hardly make it through the
day because of the various challenges that confront them. The
Annual Catholic Appeal is the primary charitable arm of the Archdiocese
of Boston and it is the chief source of funding for so many of
our pastoral, educational, social, and spiritual programs. In
this era of economic hardship, all of us have to treat the needs
of others as though they were our own. This is at the heart of
the Gospel message and we are being true disciples when we address
these needs prayerfully, financially, and generously. God has
blessed us and we need to make a grateful response to His call
to serve Him in serving each other. There are all sorts of poverty
in our world and we as disciples need to be sensitive to the ways
God calls us to eliminate it. There are many calls that you receive
for your charitable support but this particular call of the Annual
Catholic Appeal benefits so many people in so many different ways.
I beg all of you who have not already done so to prayerfully consider
making a generous donation to the Annual Catholic Appeal. There
are pledge cards available at the doors of the Church for this
purpose. Please know that whatever you can do to help in this
Appeal will be greatly appreciated.

(Galatians 2:20)
When we walk with the knowledge that Christ lives
in each of us, it is easy to see our responsibility to be the

Eucharistic Adoration
Our parish is blessed with the opportunity to worship
before the Lord in Eucharistic Adoration 24 hours a day, 7 days
a week. Please consider Jesus’ invitation to join him in prayer
by spending some quiet time before the Blessed Sacrament. No appointment
necessary.
The Adoration Ministry is also in need of adorers on a regular
basis who can commit to spending one hour a week before the Blessed
Sacrament. The need is especially great between the hours of 12:00
Midnight and 7:00 a.m., and daily between the hours of 9:00 a.m.
and 4:00 p.m. If you can commit to a regularly scheduled hour,
please contact Anne Reilly at 508-655-8516.
One of the requirements of offering Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration
is that the Blessed Sacrament may never be left alone. We must
ensure that at least one person is always present before the Lord
in the Adoration Chapel in order to meet our commitments.

June Month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Prayer for Fathers
Dear God,
You have given fathers the task of raising their children to holiness.
You chose Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as fathers of your holy nation
of Israel. Despite their failings, weaknesses and poor choices,
you made of them a great and long-lasting nation. And when the
time came for your Son to enter this world, you chose a holy man
named Joseph as his father. As our Heavenly Father, you have seen
us, your children, make both wise and poor choices. Give us grace
to be faithful to you, despite our failings, and help us be fathers
to our children as you have been to us.
Amen.
Prayer for Vocations
Lord Jesus Christ, you are the savior of the world.
Please manifest in your church the Spirit whom you also abundantly
bestowed on your apostles. Call many to the priesthood and religious
life. May zeal for your glory and for the salvation of the world
inflame those you have chosen. May they be saints in your likeness.
May our Holy Spirit strengthen them. May they be priests and religious
according to your own heart. Amen.
