Stewardship

“The Lord called me from birth, from my mother’s womb he gave me my name.” (Isaiah 49:1)

The best way to achieve true peace, joy and contentment in life is to realize that God has, indeed, had a plan for you since before you were born. He has given you the time, talent and treasure to fulfill that plan. Now it is up to you to use your life gifts as God intended.

Rest in Peace

Let us pray for those who have died, especially

Robert Keane

May he and all of our faithful departed rest in peace.

Prayer for Vocations

Almighty God, your son Jesus told us to pray for vocations since the harvest is great and the laborers are few. Help all of us who center our Catholic lives in word and sacrament to be active promoters of vocations to the priesthood and religious life. The ministry of identifying and nurturing vocations belongs to each member of each family in our parish families. May we all accept this mission from Jesus with the determination that comes from faith. We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.

THANK YOU

SUNDAY COFFEE

Come join us today for the last opportunity
to socialize over coffee and breakfast treats
until next Fall. The Sunday Coffee gatherings have allowed many of our parishioners a chance to get to know one another and we want to thank all those who made it possible.

Music Ministry

We would like to thank the children and adults who sacrificed their time to be a part of the Music Ministry this past year at St. Patrick’s. The Adult Choir, the Children’s Choir and the volunteer Cantors have enhanced our spiritual experience during Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter Seasons. We would also like to express our gratitude to the teachers of the Religious Education Program and the Parents of the children for their assistance with the Children’s Choir. Their willingness to make changes in their weekend schedule helped enable the children to make a greater contribution in the Mass. It is a great privilege to be part of such a generous community. There is still time to share in this Ministry. The Adult Choir will resume rehearsals September 4, 2007 at the Joseph’s Center at 7:30 on Tuesday evenings. If you are interested in donating your time and talents to help build a stronger and more diverse musical program please contact: Martin Kelly, Music Director at (617) 489-2472 or E-mail at mjksjf@aol.com

Marriage Amendment

We are deservedly disappointed in the vote taken last Thursday, June 14 by the Massachusetts Legislature meeting in Constitutional Convention. As most are aware by now supporters of traditional marriage had gathered an unprecedented 170,000 signatures in response to our state’s 2004 Supreme Judicial Court ruling that led to so called “same-sex marriage.” If 50 legislators (out of a total of 200) had voted in the affirmative a question authorizing voters to affirm or overturn the court’s action would have been placed on the 2008 statewide ballot. Only 45 legislators voted to advance the question.
These 45 men and women are to be commended for their courage.

It’s not now clear what steps are available or will be taken in the future to protect the institution of marriage. Nonetheless, we should not regret our effort. We fulfilled a moral duty expressing our displeasure both with the court’s action and for the manner in which this policy has been promulgated.

In the meantime let us pray that this does not mark the start of a diminution in the right of Massachusetts’ citizens to participate in the democratic process.

Safety for All

In an effort to make sure our building is a secure place for all during the celebration of Mass, parents please accompany your children when they need to use the rest room. In this way we will all be assured that our oungsters are safe at all times.
