FROM THE PASTOR

It is with mixed emotions that we gather this weekend to say farewell to the REVEREND STEPHEN S. DONOHOE. We have been blessed to have had the privilege of sharing in his priestly ministry during these past two years and Fr. Donohoe has enriched this parish community in so many ways. We are delighted that Archbishop Sean has recognized Fr. Donohoe's tremendous talents and has assigned him the awesome responsibility of helping to form our future priests as they prepare at St. John's Seminary for parish ministry. On a more personal level, I will miss his wise counsel, his fraternal charity, and his delightful sense of humor. We are sending one of the finest priests in this Archdiocese along with our prayers to the Good Shepherd that He will watch over him and bring to Fr. Donohoe the same happiness that we have all received from him during his time among us. VAYA CON DIOS.

I want to welcome the REVEREND FABIAN SOGNON, S.M.A who will be spending the next two months at St. Patrick's. Fr. Fabian is a native of Togo in Africa and was ordained a priest just two years ago. We are blessed to welcome this missionary to our parish family and pray that his visit will be both enjoyable and fruitful.

After several months of discussion, I have received a recommendation from the PARISH FINANCE COUNCIL that the sale of the Lincoln Street properties would be the best course of action for our parish as we look to the future. The proceeds from this sale could be applied to the capital improvements that are needed for our church building. Before I accept this recommendation and act upon it, I have asked the Parish Pastoral Council to solicit your input regarding this decision. I hope that you will contact members of the Pastoral Council with any suggestions or concerns that you might have regarding this proposed sale.

For some time now, I have received numerous complaints regarding the SOUND SYSTEM in the Church. Many of our parishioners have found it difficult to have as complete a prayerful experience as they would like because of the difficulty in hearing the prayers, the homily, and the Word of God. Aware of that concern, I asked the Chief Engineer of the Boston Catholic Television Center to explore the various options to improve the quality of the sound in such a large facility as our Church. I am happy to report that we have accepted a proposed bid and expect to begin work on this project during the upcoming months. If any of you would like to contribute to defray the cost of this special project, please feel free to do so. Any financial donations will be gratefully received.

The Prayer Chalice

The Prayer Chalice is given to a family each Sunday at the 9:00 AM Mass. They are asked to take the Chalice home and during their family prayers at supper or bedtime, to offer a special prayer for vocations. In this way, they fill the Chalice with their prayers. The Chalice is then returned before the 9:00 AM Mass of the next week. It should be returned to the sacristy before the 9:00 AM Sunday Mass. If your family would like to take the Chalice home for the week, please contact Nancy Maguire 508-655-1017 or call the Rectory 508-653-1093.

Eucharistic Adoration

When Jesus called His apostles from their work to follow Him, He knew they heard Him, not only with their ears, but, within their hearts. They heard Him. They listened to Him. They followed Him. They loved Him.

Extra help is needed the next three months to cover hours when committed adorers are away. Some of the hours where a substitute is needed are:
Sunday 10-11pm (July 11, and July 18th)
Sunday 12 noon to 1pm (July, August, and September)
Sunday 3-4pm (July and August)
Tuesday 8-9am (July 6th)

Hear Him with your heart. Come closer to Him Are you able to fill in, at least, 1 or 2 times during the summer months? Are you listening? Will you follow? Will you call? Carole (508-653-0371) Also, check the substitute list on the bulletin board.

Thank you for all your donations to the weekly food drop-off, which is located in the left-hand corner in the vestibule of the church. We bring your donations to the Natick Food Pantry on East Central St. on the first week of the month, and to A Place To Turn, on Hartford St., during the second-fourth weeks. If there is a fifth Sunday, the food collection is picked up by the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

The pantries accept all basic non-perishable food products. Items which are a source of protein are especially welcome (beans, hash, beef stew). Currently, A Place To Turn is low on Size 4 diapers, shampoo, peanut butter, cereal, baby wipes, coffee, juice, paper towels and macaroni & cheese. Outdated food items are not accepted.
