FROM THE PASTOR

Tickets will be on sale after all of the Masses this weekend for the ST. PATRICK'S PARISH FAMILY DAY on July 27th at Glen Ellen Country Club. Last year's event was a huge success so I want to encourage all to reserve a spot. In a parish of our size we need to use a day like this as a great opportunity to relax and to become better acquainted with each other. In the midst of all that goes on in our lives, we need to take some time for relaxation and recreation. There will be golfing, swimming, tennis, and plenty of activities for the whole family, as well as a great dinner. Hopefully, you can be a part of the excitement.

I want to welcome

ANNE MULHERN who joins our Parish Staff as the receptionist and bookkeeper. Anne has had much experience in the financial world and is blessed with a great personality. Anne lives in Natick with her husband and two sons. I am delighted that she has agreed to assist the parish in this capacity.

I also want to welcome home our seminarian, WILLIAM VENTURA who will be with us for the remaining weeks of the summer. Bill is entering his second year as a theologian at St. John's Seminary and has agreed to assist us at St. Patrick's. Bill will be teaching a TOPICAL BIBLE STUDY on Mondays and Thursdays after the 8:00 AM Daily Mass. I am grateful to him for his willingness to offer this gift to the parish community and I urge all those who are able to join him for this time of study and an update in Catholic theology. In addition to this, Bill will spend some of his time visiting the nursing homes and hospitals, as well as brining Holy Communion to the sick in their homes. It is a great blessing to have Bill with us for this time and I am certain that we will all benefit from his many gifts. Bill will also be able to assist our new parish seminarian, MARK BARR, as he prepares to enter the seminary in the fall. We are blessed to have these two fine candidates pursuing their studies towards ordination to the Priesthood. I hope that you will continue to offer your prayerful encouragement and support to them.

We are looking forward to the installation of our new Archbishop and we urge your continued prayers. The MOST REVEREND SEAN P. O'MALLEY, O.F.M., CAP. will be installed as the sixth Archbishop of Boston on July 30th at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston. The Archbishop-Designate certainly will need the support and prayers of all Catholics as he undertakes this formidable challenge. We pray that God will help him to be a faithful teacher, a wise administrator, and a holy priest. May his words and example inspire and guide us so that we can be a true family of faith united in love around the Altar.

Finally, as we reach the half-way mark of the summer, I want to encourage all of you to take some time for yourselves. The days can be hectic and can be full of "stuff" but we need to constantly be refreshed through prayer and recreation. I urge all of you to make a visit with the Lord Jesus in the Adoration Chapel and to spend some quiet time with Him. I always find that, no matter how stressful the day, I leave His presence with a lighter step and a brighter outlook. The Chapel is open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

STEWARDSHIP

In today's Gospel, Jesus had planned to slip away from the crowds for a few moments of peace and a little rest. When He saw the people gathered, however, He put His needs aside to meet the needs of others. Sometimes, as good stewards, we are called to do the same.
