FROM
THE PASTOR
The SECOND COLLECTION that is being
taken up at all of the Masses this weekend is for aid to the CHURCH
IN CENTRAL AND EASTERN EUROPE. In this part of the world,
the Church is emerging from 70 years of Communist rule and is
vigorously attempting to rebuild the faith of her people. Your
financial contribution in this collection will be used to support
much needed religious education programs, train seminarians, and
to expand the social and pastoral ministries required to serve
God’s people. Additionally, your gift will help to rebuild churches,
convents, and schools that fell into disrepair under those oppressive
totalitarian regimes that caused untold suffering to so many.
Your generosity in this collection can help provide the resources
to grow and nourish the Catholic faith in this region of the world.
May the Lord bless you abundantly for your generous concern and
compassionate response to this appeal.
I want to call your attention to the sign that is now in front
of our former parish school building and to explain its presence.
The sign announces the “availability” of the building and provides
the phone number for Codman Realty in the event of inquiries from
interested parties. For the record, let me state that the building
is NOT for sale; it is offered for lease only and under terms
that would allow St. Patrick’s Parish to continue to use the facility
for parish needs. We are doing this for a number of reasons but
primarily to “mitigate” any financial losses that our former tenant,
the Montrose School, might incur in fulfillment of our lease agreement
with them. We also recognize the critical importance of utilizing
that space in a manner that continues to generate revenue for
the parish and permits our use. I hope to be able to share with
you shortly a detailed account of the status of the legal issues
between the Montrose School and St. Patrick’s Parish that remain
unresolved at this juncture.
However, what I can share with you immediately is the fact that
our operating cash flow has been severely impacted by the loss
of revenue owed to St. Patrick’s by our former tenants. Our long
term planning efforts over the past few years has focused on the
scheduled end of this lease in 2010. As the legal experts attempt
to resolve this conflict, St. Patrick’s Parish’s Operating Expenses
have continued to increase and as a result, we are facing a serious
shortfall of close to $20,000.00 in operating revenue. The Finance
Council is aggressively looking at ways to reverse this alarming
situation by increasing revenue but I need to ask all of you to
prayerfully consider making an immediate and substantial increase
in your financial contributions. During the summer months, when
people are traditionally on vacation, the Offertory at Mass, which
is the financial life-line for us, decreases and this creates
a serious threat to our financial stability. In the past, we have
been able to budget for this but regrettably, this past year’s
unforeseen expenses have left us in a precarious position. The
Finance Council will make its detailed annual report to the parish
community in September but in the interim, I am asking you to
please increase your weekly contributions. We greatly appreciate
your support.

Stewardship
“Mary has chosen the better part and it will not
be taken from her.” Luke 10:42
The story of Martha and Mary reminds us that good stewards give
time both to serve the Lord and to simply be with Him in prayer.
Prayer for Vocations
Dear God, you have created us in your own image
and have given us so many gifts. We ask you to bless us all, so
that we may know best how to love you and each other with those
gifts. We pray especially for those young men and women who are
searching for ways to serve you in love. May they be open to all
that you may ask. We pray for those who study for the priesthood
and religious life, that their preparations may bring to the church
happy and holy priests and religious men and women. We ask this,
through Christ the Good Shepherd.
Amen.
St. Vincent de Paul Weekly Food Collection
Parishioners are reminded of the ongoing food collection
for the needy members of our community. Donations of non-perishable
food products and non-food items may be left at the left side
of the church vestibule at any service. Items are then distributed
to various food pantries. Some especially needed items at this
time are: canned stews, cereal, coffee, 100% fruit drinks, tomato
products, toothpaste and shampoo.
Your generosity in assisting individuals and families who are
unable to meet some of their basic needs is greatly appreciated!

Please pray daily for
the vocation of marriage
Heavenly Father,
Through the intercession of the Holy Family,
Help us treasure the gift of marriage that
reflects the love of Christ for the Church,
where the self-giving love
of husband and wife
unites them more perfectly and
cooperates in your plan for
new life created in your image.
Help us support men and women
in their vocation of marriage,
especially in difficult times when
they join their sufferings to the Cross.
Help us uphold the institution of marriage
in our society as the place where
love is nurtured and family life begins.
Help us acknowledge that our future
depends on this love and on your
providential care for us. Amen

Summer Office Hours
Please note that the parish office is open Monday – Thursday
from 9:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:15 a.m. to 12:00
noon during the summer months.
Eucharistic Adoration
Our parish is blessed with the opportunity to worship
before the Lord in Eucharistic Adoration 24 hours a day, 7 days
a week. Please consider Jesus’ invitation to join him in prayer
by spending some quiet time before the Blessed Sacrament. No appointment
necessary.
The Adoration Ministry is also in need of adorers on a regular
basis who can commit to spending one hour a week before the Blessed
Sacrament. The need is especially great between the hours of 12:00
Midnight and 7:00 a.m., and daily between the hours of 9:00 a.m.
and 4:00 p.m. If you can commit to a regularly scheduled hour,
please contact Anne Reilly at 508-655-8516.
One of the requirements of offering Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration
is that the Blessed Sacrament may never be left alone. We must
ensure that at least one person is always present before the Lord
in the Adoration Chapel in order to meet our commitments.
