FROM THE PASTOR
I want to welcome the REVEREND JOHN WILSON to our parish this weekend. Fr. Wilson is a member of the Pontifical Society of the Propagation of the Faith and he will be speaking at all of the Masses in order to heighten our awareness of the missionary work of the Catholic Church. There will be a SPECIAL SECOND COLLECTION taken up to offer financial assistance to those priests and religious who have left their homes in order to bring the Gospel to distant lands. We are certainly blessed to welcome Fr. Wilson to St. Patrick's and extend to him some fraternal hospitality as a sign of our appreciation for the wonderful work that the missionaries do for God's holy people. I know that you will all be as generous to this special appeal as your means allow and I am certain that God will reward you for your kindness to those who serve in His name.
Our St. Patrick's Vacation Bible School begins this week and I want to express my appreciation to NANCY MAGUIRE for all of her hard work in preparing for this wonderful event. This year's theme is "LAVA LAVA ISLAND" and Nancy and her staff of volunteers have transformed the school into a tropical island paradise. The generosity of all of those involved in this endeavor is a reminder of what can be accomplished when good people step forward and offer their extraordinary gifts for the benefit of others. As we express our gratitude to those involved, let us continue to keep them in our prayers that this week may be a time of great grace and enjoyment to all who participate. May all experience a greater awareness of God's wonderful love for each of His children and emerge from this week with a renewed enthusiasm to follow Him to our true paradise of Heaven.
I have been meeting with the PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL and the PARISH FINANCE COUNCIL during these past few months in order to determine what would be the best course of action with regard to the parish properties on Lincoln Street. It has been the recommendation of both advisory groups that the parish should liquidate these particular assets and use the money from the sale of property to finance some of the necessary capital improvements to our beautiful Church building. I recently asked parishioners for their input and received an almost universal agreement to this recommendation. However, before I accept this recommendation and move forward, I want to await the advice of those parishioners from the closing parishes in the area who will be joining our family in the near future. Since a decision of this magnitude affects the future of the parish, it seems only right and proper that we hold this decision in abeyance until everyone has had an opportunity to consider all of the alternatives.

Election 2004:
How to vote authentically Catholic
30 Million voting Catholics have the power to transform our country. We can make it more supportive of life, families, and the poor. But "voting Catholic" does not mean voting just for "Catholic" politicians who oppose Church values on abortion, marriage, and human dignity.
§ Hear from Catholic leaders how to truly vote consistent with the moral principles of our faith.
§ Join and rally with other faithful Catholics to support the pro-life, pro-family positions of candidates for local and national office.
§ Get valuable tools for local voter education efforts.
Re-energize your commitment to participate in political life, and come away with an action plan to help make our state and nation more welcoming to life, traditional families, and the poor and marginalized. People of all faiths are invited.

PERPETUAL ADORATION
St. Patrick's Parish is so blessed to have Perpetual Adoration.
We are also thankful to the adorers who faithfully commit to their hour. However, there are times when the committed adorer is unable to cover his/her hour. Vacation time is here and we would greatly appreciate anyone who is able to substitute during the summer months. On the bulletin board in the chapel vestibule is a list of adorers looking for a substitute.
If you would like to visit other adoration chapels while on vacation, www.therealpresence.org lists parishes with adoration by state throughout the US, the days and times of adoration and maps. Another helpful website for vacationers is www.masstimes.org.
Through these resources you can connect with Sunday Mass and adoration no matter where your summer plans take you!

"The Catholic Church in the United States has made invaluable contributions to the spiritual and material well being of our country…20% of the hospitals in the country are run by the Church, the largest social service agencies and relief organizations in the land are agencies of the Catholic Church." …

MARIAN MINISTRY
"My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my savior, for God has looked with favor on the lowliness of his servant. Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed; for the Mighty One has done great things for me and holy is God's name" - Luke 1: 46-49

Catholic Teaching on Caring for God's Creation
"The world that God created has been entrusted to us. Our use of it must be directed by God's plan for creation, not simply for our own benefit. Our stewardship of the earth is a form of participation in God's act of creating and sustaining the world. In our use of creation, we must be guided by a concern for generations to come. We show our respect for the Creator by our care for creation."
