FROM THE PASTOR

I want to apologize for the confusion that occurred when the two special collections coincided last weekend. The mission appeal by Fr. Wilson for the benefit of the Society of the Propagation of the Faith was inadvertently scheduled to take place on the same weekend when the collection was to be taken up for the Church in Eastern Europe. As a result, many people were caught by surprise and were unable to contribute to both of these worthwhile causes. Your response to the second collection that went entirely to the missions was $ 3,061.00. With that in mind, there will be a SECOND COLLECTION taken up at all of the Masses this weekend to benefit the Church in Eastern and Central Europe. The Church in that part of the world has experienced great growth with the collapse of the communist regimes but with growth comes many needs that require immediate attention. Our financial support in this second collection will enable the Church to provide the necessary pastoral services in order to further evangelize and promote the Gospel. I appreciate your generosity and am certain that God will reward you for your kindness. Again, please accept my apology for this misunderstanding.

I want to express my gratitude to all of the people who were involved in the Vacation Bible School last week. The school halls were transformed into "Lava Lava Island" where our young people were able to grow in their awareness of God's great love for them. The heroic efforts of NANCY MAGUIRE and her crew of committed volunteers resulted in an awesome experience for all of us, young and old. The Bible School remains one of the most popular activities that St. Patrick's offers and we appreciate the hard work and love that goes into making it such a success.

I would like to give you an update on the RECONFIGURATION PROCESS that is currently underway in the Archdiocese of Boston. Archbishop Sean has announced the closing of over 65 parishes over the next six months. Some of these parishes have already closed or will close within the immediate weeks. Others will close between October and the end of the year. Locally, St. James Parish on the Natick/Wellesley town lines and Sacred Heart Parish in South Natick have been informed that they are to close but the actual date of the closing has yet to be determined. When the Archbishop issues the canonical Decree of Suppression, he will also designate at that time the official parish that will be charged with providing pastoral care to these parishioners. With that in mind, we continue to hold our brothers and sisters in prayer and gladly offer to them our hands in friendship and welcome.

STEWARDSHIP

In today's Second Reading, Saint Paul reminds us to "Think of what is above, not of what is on earth." When we are called to judgment, how will we account for God's gifts of Time, Talent and Treasure?

Parish Support

We are very grateful to those parishioners who make up their weekly envelopes while on vacation. Needless to say, it helps us pay our bills that do not take time off for vacation. The mail-back envelope contained in your monthly envelope package is included for people to use when away from the parish. This envelope is not a request for additional contributions. Thank you for your generous support.

Weddings

Let us pray for Sean Stevens and Rachel Balboni who were married here last week

Let us also pray for those who are preparing for marriage, especially for Mark Caufield and Denise Trubiano whose wedding is scheduled for August 14th.

Rest in Peace

Let us pray for those who have died, especially Gerard LeBlanc, Joseph Crestuk, and Richard McGrath who will be buried Monday. May they and all the faithful departed rest in peace.

Thank you!

To Nancy Maguire, and the entire team for putting on an awesome Vacation Bible School again this year! Look for some pictures of all the fun kids had this past week singing, dancing, doing crafts, snacks, games, and living out Bible Adventures.
