The Saint Patrick Parish Pastoral Council is hosting our annual Stewardship Sunday to be held after all Masses the weekend of October 14th and 15th.
Join us downstairs in the Parish Hall to learn of the many volunteer opportunities here at Saint Patrick's. Representatives from our various ministries and committees will be on hand to answer questions regarding volunteering in over 25 different areas of parish life.
Please prayerfully consider responding to God's call by sharing your gifts and talents with your Saint Patrick Parish family.

Stewardship
"You have lived on earth in luxury and pleasure; you have fattened your hearts for the day of slaughter." (James 5:5)
Many of us collect the good things in life, without ever questioning if our increasing luxury is pleasing in God's eyes. We are like sheep following the lure of advertising rather than sheep following the Good Shepherd. Today take a moment to ask if you are following where God leads or are you bogged down by earthly possessions.
Rest in Peace
Let us pray for those who have died, especially
Richard H. Delaney and Edward P. Shaughnessy
May they and all the faithful departed rest in peace.
Catholics can always Come Home.
Have you or someone you love been
away from the Church and wish to return?
Saint Patrick Parish is once again offering this program designed to assist Catholics in returning to the Church after being away for any reason. Our "Coming Home" program involves no commitment. It is informal, informative, and confidential.
If you have been away from the Church and desire to reconnect with a faith filled community, please join us for our first session on Monday, October 23rd, at 7:30 in the Lower Church Hall. Seven weekly sessions will be held to answer your questions and address your concerns. We look forward to meeting you.
For more information, please call us at 508-653-1093.
Pine Street Inn Ministry
The Pine Street Inn Ministry is looking for volunteers to serve the evening meal on Saturday, October 7th and Saturday, November 4th. Please call Ann Regan at 508-650-1902 if you are interested.
Religious Education
Thanks to all volunteers who have stepped up and agreed to assist with our program. Last Sunday morning was the first class day for the early grades and our high school students started Sunday evening. Middle Grade students had their first class Wednesday evening. We literally had people volunteering right up to the beginning of classes and a few people who'd volunteered earlier agreed to a late change to accommodate a new teacher. The cooperation and good will exhibited by so many is uplifting.
Now that we've begun the program we can focus on a few other items that we had to put "on hold" while filling our catechist roster. We'd like to have a full complement of hall monitors and some back up aides, especially for Sunday mornings. If you would be willing to commit to even a few Sundays, please call the Religious Education Office (508) 907-6220 and we'll organize a schedule.
Students and Parents in Grades 7 and 8 are reminded that they will be attending class together this Wednesday, October 4. Parents will meet their children's catechists and learn about this year's curriculum.
Please note: There will be no classes next Sunday, October 8 or Wednesday, October 11 due to the Columbus Day Holiday.
Prayer for Autumn
Heavenly Father,
You made not only the stars of the heavens,
But you made the seasons the earth.
In every autumn, there are endings and beginnings.
There is the end of vacations,
And the beginning of school.
Cool green leaves fall from their branches,
And become dappled yellows, bright oranges and deep reds.
Help me, when things end that I wish had continued,
To see that in you, there are no real endings.
In you, there are only changes, and new beginnings.
Give me the grace to know,
That even death itself is not the end,
But only a change
From one beautiful thing into another.
Amen.
