FROM THE PASTOR
I want to invite all to join us this week for our PARISH MISSION which begins this Sunday evening and continues each evening at 7:30 PM in the Church through Wednesday night. The theme of the mission is "ONE LORD, MANY FACES" and is being co-sponsored by the Spiritual Development and Seamless Garment Commissions of the parish. This mission is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to come together and to reclaim our focus on Jesus Christ as we sojourn through a world filled with lights contrary to His Gospel. It is difficult, to be sure, to live our Catholic faith with the many challenges that are constantly arising along the way but a parish mission affords us a special time of grace to fortify and encourage us to persevere. The theme of the mission was deliberately selected to help us realize the unbreakable bond between the faith that we profess on Sundays and the choices and actions that we make in our daily lives. The need for a consistent ethic of life in the many and varied aspects of life is recognized as we attempt to incorporate the Gospel imperatives in the ways in which we interact with each other. The very basis of our activities comes from the recognition that all life is from God and therefore has a sacred quality. Our love for God is realized by the way in which we treasure the gift of life that is so valuable that God allowed His only Son to offer His life in order to redeem us. The Cross of Jesus Christ is the vivid and awesome sacrifice that proclaims how precious each person is in the eyes of God and it was there on Calvary that our dignity as sons and daughters was sealed by His blood. With all that has transpired in our world since that dark afternoon in Jerusalem, it can sometimes happen that we can forget the tremendous depth of God's love for each of us and fail to appreciate that our real value comes from Him and not from the world. The parish mission is a special time of grace given to us in order to hear again that we are fearfully, wonderfully made and are called to live in a way that reflects our true dignity as God's holy people. I hope and pray that you will make every effort to join us for these evenings and that we will emerge from this mission with a renewed enthusiasm and appreciation for the privilege and dignity that is ours to be Catholics.
In conjunction with the mission and in order to realize the concrete implications of discipleship, we are hosting a CLOTHING DRIVE to benefit St. Francis House in Boston. St. Francis House is a shelter for the many of our brothers and sisters who are homeless and our love for God is demonstrated by our active concern for all of His people but especially those most in need. There is a particular need this year for men's clothing, especially winter clothing. I hope that you will donate to this clothing drive.
Next weekend the Church will observe MISSION SUNDAY and there will be a special Second Collection taken up at all of the Masses to benefit the various Catholic missions throughout the world. Some of you might remember Father Fabian and the good work that he is doing in Nigeria. This collection supports him as well as the other missionaries that labor to bring God's word in fulfillment of His command to" Go and make disciples of all nations." I know that you will be as generous as possible.

STEWARDSHIP
Today's theme is perseverance - Moses keeping his hands upraised throughout the battle, Paul urging Timothy to stay with the task of preaching and teaching, and the widow appealing to the corrupt judge. To be faithful stewards of God's gifts, we too must persevere in the roles to which we are called.
Rest in Peace
Let us pray for those who have died, especially Helen Saunders, Mary A. McGovern and Patricia Medeiros May they and all the faithful departed rest in peace.
A Note of Thanks
To all the parishioners
Thank you for your prayers and get well wishes during my recent illness. Know that my heart goes to you as well.
