FROM THE PASTOR

This weekend, I have asked the members of the PARISH FINANCE COUNCIL to speak at all of the Masses in order to give you an update on the fiscal state of the parish. The Council will distribute copies of the Operating Budget for the new fiscal year and will also report on the past year's income and expenses. I will leave the detailed analysis to the Council members but I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all of you for the many sacrifices that you have made over the past years and for your unfailing generosity. I am most appreciative of your concern and compassion for those who are less fortunate and because of that, we have been able to assist numerous charitable concerns both here in Natick as well as beyond. The economy of the past year took a terrible toll on many deserving charities and we were blessed to be able to offer some financial assistance to many people. The Offertory Collection is primarily used for the operating expenses of the parish and we need to increase our revenues if we are to maintain that same level of concern this year. In addition to charity, the parish needs to begin to set aside money for a long-term maintenance program. In a parish of this size and with the age of our facilities, any major repair would have a severely adverse impact on our budget. In the name of Christ, I wish to appeal once more to your generous spirit and ask that, if at all possible, you increase your contribution to the Offertory. Please know that my brother priests and I deeply appreciate your continued kindness and we pledge our daily prayers that God will reward you for all that you do for His people.

This Thursday, October 30th, we will make a one day pilgrimage to the SHRINE OF DIVINE MERCY in Stockbridge, Ma. There are still some seats available on the bus so please call the Rectory to reserve a seat. I hope as many people who are able will join us for this spiritual moment of grace.

This Saturday, November 1st, is the FEAST OF ALL SAINTS. Because this feast falls on a Saturday this year, it is not observed as a Holy Day of Obligation. However, I would encourage you to join us for the celebration of Mass at 8:00 AM on Saturday as we commemorate those heroic men and women who lived their earthly lives with fidelity and charity.

On Saturday evening, November 1st, we will offer a SPECIAL MASS for the PRE-`BORN DECEASED. This annual Mass is offered in memory of those children who have died prior to birth and for their parents who grieve their loss. The Mass will begin at 6:00 PM and will conclude with a reception downstairs. All are most welcome.

Finally, we offer our prayerful best wishes and congratulations to MARGA AND ALLAN CROCKER who observed their 50th Wedding Anniversary this past week. May God bless them for their faithful witness to Christ's presence in their marriage and may He continue to bring them much happiness

This is a competitive and fun league. The regular season for the CYO league in the MetroWest area starts up in late November and continues through February, with Playoffs going through mid-March. Sign-ups will begin in early October, but we need to get an idea of who might be interested in playing and formulate a list right now. Practices during the season are at night during the week and games are held on the weekends. If you fall within the grade 5 to grade 12 age group and are interested, please email Graham Briggs at gsmbriggs@rcn.com as soon as possible and let him know your sex, age, and grade.
