This Thursday, November 1st is the FEAST OF ALL SAINTS
and it is a HOLY DAY OF OBLIGATION. All Catholics
are obliged to participate in the celebration of Mass as we recall
the heroic men and women who have lived and died for Christ. Their
stories are sources of great inspiration to us as we go about
our daily lives and attempt to live out our Baptismal commitment.
In order to make it more convenient for us to fulfill this privilege
of celebrating the Eucharist, Masses at St. Patrick’s
will be on Wednesday, October 31st at 4:00 PM and Thursday, November
1st at 6:30 and 8:00 AM and 4:00 and 7:30 PM. Please
note that there will NOT be a 7:30 PM Mass on
Wednesday evening this week.
I
want to invite all parishioners to join us on this Monday evening,
October 29th as we welcome SISTER OLGA YAQOB to
our parish. Sister Olga is a remarkable woman who is well-known
throughout the Archdiocese for her extraordinary and powerful
witness to Christ. Sister Olga is from Iraq and is presently involved
in campus ministry at Boston University. Sister Olga has agreed
to share her fascinating spiritual journey with us as we contemplate
our own life’s challenges. Sister Olga’s presentation is part
of our MONTHLY EVENING OF PRAYER which will begin
at 7:30 PM in the Church. This special evening will conclude with
BENEDICTION OF THE MOST BLESSED SACRAMENT. I
hope all who are able will take advantage of this unique opportunity
to listen to this holy woman as she shares her story of God working
in her life and what wonderful things He can do if we are open
to His Holy Spirit.
The
Knights of Columbus will be outside of Church this weekend for
their annual Tootsie Roll Drive. The Knights
use the proceeds from this fund-raiser to aid the disabled children
of our community and to provide for some of their material needs.
I am sure that all will want to help this worthwhile cause and
I thank you in advance for your support. Since Halloween is on
Wednesday, this will also give you a chance to get some candy
for those who might be trick or treating this week.
This past month, I have had the privilege of celebrating the Funeral
Masses of two long-time parishioners: MARGARET DAVIS and
LEAH HAYES. Both of these women were active in parish
life and we will miss their energy and commitment. May the Lord
reward them for their countless acts of kindness and grant them
eternal rest in His Kingdom.

of the Virgin Mary, the first religious community for women in
the Assyrian Catholic Church in 700 years. She spent seven years
serving the prisoners at Abu Ghraib, and her life experiences
and suffering, both here and in Iraq, have taught her how to be
joyfully rooted in Jesus Christ. Sister Olga is currently doing
wonderful work in the Archdiocese as a Campus Minister at Boston
University. Please come and hear this interesting and dynamic
woman of faith. It is truly an honor to welcome her to our parish
family. All are welcome, and refreshments will be served following

Prayer
for Respect Life
Dear Lord,
We live in a world today that believes a person to be valuable
only if they are useful to ourselves or others. Today, people
who are inconvenient to some are believed to have no rights. We
pray today that mothers considering abortion will instead let
their children live and grow. We pray today that the elderly and
infirm will be valued as members of our society. We pray for the
poor, the condemned, the disabled, and the outcast. Help us, Lord,
to build a culture of life because you, our Creator, are the author
of us all.
Amen.
Safety for All
In an effort to make sure our building is a secure place for
all during the celebration of Mass, parents please accompany
your children when they need to use the rest room. In this
way we will all be assured that our oungsters are safe at all
times.
