FROM THE PASTOR
This Wednesday, November 1st, is the FEAST OF ALL SAINTS and it is a HOLY DAY OF OBLIGATION. All Catholics are obliged to participate in the celebration of Mass as we recall those heroic men and women who lived and died for Jesus Christ. Their stories are sources of great inspiration to us as we go about our daily lives and attempt to live out our Baptismal commitment. In order to make it more convenient for us to fulfill this privilege of celebrating the Eucharist, Masses at St. Patrick's will be on Tuesday, October 31st at 4:00 PM and Wednesday, November 1st at 6:30 and 8:00 AM and 4:00 and 7:30 PM.
The Mass on Wednesday, November 1st at 7:30 PM will be dedicated to the PRE-BORN DECEASED and ALL CHILDREN WHO HAVE DIED and we are extending a special invitation to all parents who have lost a child through death. The death of a child is perhaps the worst experience that a parent can endure and it is often difficult for us to understand how God can allow this to happen. It is our belief that all baptized children are taken up into the glory of God's heavenly kingdom. We further believe that, through His infinite mercy, God brings to Himself all children and they are numbered among the saints. In spite of our grief, the death of a child is a joyous moment for the child because they achieve immediately the purpose for which they have been created. We offer our prayers for their parents in the hope that Christ's promise of the Resurrection will ease their sadness and provide some comfort. We have invited the Rev. J. Bryan Hehir, the President of Catholic Charities, to join us and to be the homilist of the Mass. I hope all parishioners will join us for this special Mass as our presence can be a source of great comfort to parents as well.
On behalf of Cardinal O'Malley, I want to urge all parishioners who have not already contributed to the ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL to do so now. The Annual Catholic Appeal provides the resources through which we live "Our Faith, Our Mission." Your financial gift supports the efforts of those who work in the over 60 ministries, programs, and agencies that comprise the Church in Boston. As you know, we are striving to rejuvenate the financial health of the Archdiocese and in order to do so, we need every Catholic's support. Your generous support at St. Patrick's has allowed us to achieve 68% of our goal of $ 108,000. If you have not already done so, I urge you to please consider making a substantial financial gift to the Annual Appeal. So many people are depending upon you. Thank you for your kindness and compassionate response.

Stewardship
"Immediately he received his sight and followed him on the way." (Mark 10:52)
Sight is just one of the many gifts that God has given to us. Like all of our basic senses and talents, sight is a gift we often take for granted. We pat ourselves on the back for our many accomplishments, forgetting that all that we do, we do with the gifts that God has given to us.
Through the Catholic Appeal we live Our Faith, Our Mission
Over the next few weeks, we will be closing out our 2006 Catholic Appeal. This critical fundraiser makes possible the programs, ministries and services through which we live Our Faith, Our Mission. When you give to the Appeal, you are providing young people the resources that keep them connected to their faith as they go away to college. You are helping to open new lines of communication to Catholics of all ages through programs like CardinalSeansBlog.org. You are supporting programs that spread the word about the call to priesthood.
Cardinal Sean will be sending reminder letters asking those who have yet to participate to consider doing so. If you have already given, thank you. If you have not, please, respond as generously as you can. Every gift, regardless of the amount, matters. You may pick up a pledge card at the back of the church.
Help us make possible the programs, ministries and services through which we live Our Faith, Our Mission.
