FROM THE PASTOR
I want to offer our prayerful best wishes to the young men and women of our parish family who received the SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION this past weekend. His Excellency, the Most Reverend Walter J. Edyvean administered the sacrament to our young adults and we are so proud of these visible witnesses of God's powerful presence at work in our midst. I wish to congratulate and thank as well the parents and sponsors of these candidates for their example of faith that has inspired these men and women to persevere in their commitment to our Catholic Church. I look forward to great things form these fine young people as they assume a more active and visible role in our parish family. I am indebted to the REV. THOMAS S. RAFFERTY, PATRICIA FAIR, THOMAS COBB, MEGHAN WALSH, AND LISA CORREIA for all that they did to prepare these candidates. May God bless you for your constant dedication and generous service to our religious education program.
On behalf of the Parish Pastoral Council, I would like to express my thanks to the members of the parish ministries who helped support our recent STEWARDSHIP SUNDAY. This was a tremendous effort designed to encourage a deeper awareness of the many activities that constitute parish life, and we are delighted to welcome 65 new volunteers who signed up to become more actively involved in the parish. We have been enriched by the time, talent, and treasure of so many individuals, and we look forward to having even more people offer the unique gift of themselves to build up Christ's Body, the Church.
Once again, I want to urge all parishioners who have not already contributed to the ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL to do so now. The Annual Catholic Appeal provides the resources through which we live "Our Faith, Our Mission." Your financial gift supports the efforts of those who work in the over 60 ministries, programs, and agencies that comprise the Church in Boston. If you have not already done so, I urge you to please consider making a substantial financial gift to the Annual Appeal. So many people are depending upon you. Thank you for your kindness and compassionate response.
Finally, I want to remind you that this Tuesday, November 7th is ELECTION DAY in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. It is a privilege to be able to vote and I hope that you will take the time to exercise your civic responsibility. Our political leaders represent us and it is critical that we elect men and women who do that well.

Stewardship
"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength." (Mark 12:30)
What percentage does God ask of me as a good steward? All of my heart, all of my soul, all of my mind, and all of my strength.
Through the Catholic Appeal we live Our Faith, Our Mission
As you make possible the many programs, ministries and services through which we live Our Faith, Our Mission, you will be part of the new, exciting initiatives taking place in the Archdiocese. You will be helping to open new lines of communication to Catholics of all ages through programs like CardinalsBlog.org and the "Christ Speaks in the City" initiative. You will be supporting programs, like those provided by the new Office of Regional Services, that help parishes and other Catholic organizations make the most of their resources.
We are getting closer to reaching our goal, but we still have some distance to go. If you have not yet had the opportunity to give, there is still time. Extra pledge forms are available from the rectory (please call 508-653-1093).
You can make a difference. As a parish, we have the capacity, heart and spirit to reach our goal. Help us make possible the programs, ministries and services through which we live Our Faith, Our Mission.

Prayer for Vocations
O God Almighty, we thank you for calling each of us into deeper life through Jesus. We thank you for the love we are called to bear one another and for the power you give us to love with your Spirit of love. Teach us to respect the many ways your Spirit is manifested and the many gifts needed to bring Christ's life in us to its fullness. Never let us forget that the greatest among us is the one who serves with joy and humility, using your gifts for the common good. We ask this in the name of your son through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
