FROM THE PASTOR

The death of a loved one is a particularly difficult experience for all of us and it is often accompanied by a feeling of overwhelming loneliness as we try to deal with the void created in our hearts. However, as we gather around God's Altar in celebration of this great Mystery of Faith we call Eucharist, we are reminded that our God loves us and provides for us in our need by giving to us the gift of Himself and the support of others. No one can take away the sting of death except Jesus Christ and His glorious resurrection reminds all of us that life is only changed, not ended, by death. With that in mind, I want to invite all parishioners to join us for a special MASS OF REMEMBRANCE on this Monday evening, November 10th at 7:30 PM in the Church. We will recall in prayer all of those who have died in our parish family during the past year and we will commend them to the tender care of God. As we unite our prayers with the most perfect Prayer of all, the Prayer of Jesus Christ that is the Mass, we know that our prayers are heard for He has promised that all that we ask the Father in Jesus' name will be heard. We pray in gratitude for all of blessings that we received during the life-time of our beloved and we pray that God will reward them for their goodness to us. We pray as well that our grief will be turned to joy by the sure hope that someday we will gather in his Kingdom. If you know of anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one, please invite them to join us for we indeed must help each other shoulder the burden of grief that comes from death. There will be a reception in the Church hall after Mass so that we can gather in prayerful sympathy and support for each other.

Next Saturday, November 15th, we will celebrate the SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION. His Excellency, the Most Reverend Walter J. Edyvean, S.T.D. will administer the sacrament to 27 young men and women from our parish family. I want to take this opportunity to thank all of those who have helped these young adults to arrive at this important place on their spiritual journey. Fr. Riley and I have had the blessing of being involved in their proximate preparation for this day and we have been impressed with the level of maturity and commitment to the Catholic faith that these candidates exhibit. I am certain that the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon them will help them assume their proper roles in the community of the Church and that our parish family will be enriched through them.

Our parish community is pleased to be the host parish to the YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY OF THE ARCHDIOCESE OF BOSTON on next Sunday, November 16th. The Young Adults will sponsor a special CONCERT OF HEALING with JOHN POLCE at 2:30 PM in the Church and all are invited to attend. John Polce is a well-known singer and we are delighted that he has agreed to present this special concert. The Young Adults will also join us for the 5:30 PM Mass. We are honored to welcome these young adults from the Archdiocese and I hope that you will help to make them feel at home in our midst.

I want to thank all of you who have increased your weekly Offertory Contributions. We need a minimum of $ 15,000.00 per week in order to meet our operating expenses.

VETERAN'S DAY

They have found Peace beneath the friendly sod
Those laughing lads we sacrificed to Mars
Like sheaves of early wheat harvested by God
To fill the bins of Heaven beyond the stars.

They have found Love far from a world of hate
So grieve not mother for your missing one
Our Blessed Lady waiting at God's gate
Will understand, she too once lost a Son.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

On November 1st we celebrated our 8th Anniversary of Perpetual Adoration here at St. Patrick's. The Adoration Ministry would like to thank all the dedicated adorers who are faithful to their commitment. Blessed Mother Teresa said "Perpetual Adoration with exposition needs a great push. People ask me, "What will convert America and save the world?" My answer is prayer. What we need is for every Parish to come before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament in holy hours of prayer." If you are new to the parish, the chapel, (which is open 24 hours a day year round) is located on Hayes Street. All are welcome.
