FROM THE PASTOR

This Monday, November 14th we are celebrating our annual MASS OF REMEMBRANCE at 7:30 PM in the Church. We have invited the families of those who were buried from St. Patrick's Church during the past year to join us as we pray for those who have preceded us in death. The death of a loved one always leaves a void in our hearts and our celebration of Christ's victory over death reminds us of the hope to which we have all been called. Our prayerful presence is a source of great consolation to those who mourn the loss of a loved one and I hope all who are able will join us around the Altar as we commend our deceased loved ones to the tender mercy of God. There will be an opportunity to express condolences to the families as we gather in the Church Hall after Mass for some refreshments.

I want to express my gratitude to TESS ROBERTS and LISA CORREIA, the co-chairs of our new Parish Activities Commission, for coordinating our HARVEST FEST last Saturday. This was a huge success and all of us had a great time. I was particularly impressed with the enthusiasm of our young people who attended. The large turnout for this event underscored the need that we have as a parish family to spend more time socializing with each other and enjoying the gift of each other's presence in our lives. I took particular joy in being able to show the cows and other livestock to Fr. Rafferty (being from the city of Cambridge, he still thinks that you get milk directly from the store!!!). I am excited about the prospect of having more of this kind of fun events in the future.

I am delighted to share with you the news that ARCHBISHOP SEAN O'MALLEY, OFM, Cap., will be joining us as we celebrate the 10th Anniversary of PERPETUAL ADORATION at St. Patrick's as well as the 33rd Anniversary of the All Night Eucharistic Vigil in the Archdiocese of Boston. Archbishop Sean will be the Principal Celebrant of a Mass of Thanksgiving on Friday evening, December 2 at 9:00 PM in the Church. Following the Mass, there will be a brief reception for the Archbishop in the Church Hall. The Eucharist will remain exposed on the Main Altar throughout the night and we will conclude this special moment with a Mass on Saturday morning at 5:00 AM. I hope that all of you will plan to be present for this major moment in the life of our parish.

I would also like to share with you that we have formed an EVANGELIZATION COMMITTEE in the Parish. I have asked RICK SALVAGGIO and NANCY MAGUIRE to be the co-chairs of our new St. Andrew Society. St. Andrew, as you already know, was the first Apostle to come to Christ and he then ran to tell his brother Peter that he had "found the Messiah." This committee is exploring some of the many ways in which we can reach out to the wider community to share the Good News of Christ with them and to foster a deeper appreciation of our Catholic faith. It is our hope to look at some creative ways in which we can better communicate this great gift that we have received in order to help build up this family of faith and help all feel welcome. Please pray that God will inspire us and direct our actions in accord with His will so that "all may be one in Him."
