FROM THE PASTOR
The SECOND COLLECTION that is being taken up at all of the Masses this weekend is for the CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT. This annual appeal is the Church's response to Americans struggling with poverty as they strive to create a stronger future for themselves, their families, and their communities. Your generosity to this special collection will help low-income people as they work together to solve community problems, increase educational opportunities, and to establish jobs. I am certain that you will be as generous as your means allow so that together we might be able to find permanent solutions to the problem of poverty in our midst.
As we reflect upon how blessed we are both individually and as a parish, it should be obvious to all that we need to render thanks to God for all that He has done for us. Our nation's founders came to this land and raised a hymn of Thanksgiving to God for the rich harvest that they had received from His hand. This Thursday, our country will observe THANKSGIVING DAY and I want to invite all of you to join us as we gather to thank God in the best way possible: the celebration of the Prayer of Jesus Christ that is the Mass. We will celebrate a Special Mass of Thanksgiving on Wednesday evening, November 22 at 7:30 PM and on Thursday morning, November 23rd at 8:00 AM in the Main Church. There will be a special collection taken up at to aid in the feeding of the hungry in the City of Lawrence, MA as we donate the collection to the new meal center, COR UNUM. Let us pray that our love for God and our appreciation for His goodness may be seen in our pursuit of justice and peace and in our generous response to those most in need.
I want to thank all of you who have increased your weekly offering. I have met with the Finance and Pastoral Councils and we remain very concerned about our present fiscal realities. We need to continually pray for an even deeper spirit of generosity if we hope to continue to maintain our present pastoral services. We often hear about the pain of cutbacks in the Church but to be blunt, we can't expect to harvest twenty acres if we only plant one. The sharing of our resources leads to life and the hoarding of them leads to death. Just as God has been generous to us, so we need to be generous with others. We rely upon your generosity in the weekly offertory to address the many needs that we have at St. Patrick's. Please prayerfully consider opening your heart and your wallets so that the good work being done here will continue to flourish. May God reward you for your generosity.

Stewardship
"But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." (Mark 13:32)
The readings today speak of the end of the world and the coming of the Kingdom. The bishops' pastoral on stewardship says clearly "that 'life to come' is in continuity with this present life through the human goods, the worthy human purposes, which people foster now." May our good stewardship cause us to be numbered among the chosen on the last day.
Rest in Peace
Let us pray for those who have died, especially
