FROM THE PASTOR

This Sunday, the Church celebrates the FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING and it is a reminder to all of us of our status as His servants. Through our baptismal commitment, each one of us is called to serve the Lord with fidelity and obedience to His Gospel. It is precisely because we acknowledge Christ to be our Lord and King that we must share His Gospel with others, inviting all people to drink of the Truth of His Gospel. We are sent to serve our brothers and sisters in imitation of His love, that Love that finds its fullest expression in the Eucharist that we celebrate. On this day, we beg the Lord for the grace to lead all of us through a world filled with lights contrary to the Gospel and to give us the courage to stand before the Truth, whether convenient or inconvenient, confident that Christ the King always remains with us.

On behalf of the entire parish, I am happy to welcome the many new parishioners who have joined our parish family in the past few years. We are celebrating a SPECIAL MASS OF WELCOME this Sunday at 11:30 AM and we invite all to join us for this important event. There will be a reception in the Church hall after the Mass for the new families to welcome them into the parish and to familiarize them with the many aspects of parish life . It is my hope that these new parishioners will become more actively involved in the various activities of the parish and I am certain that our community will be enriched by the gift of their presence.

This Thursday, November 27th is THANKSGIVING DAY and we certainly have many reasons to be grateful to God for His blessings. I want to express our prayerful best wishes to all for a HAPPY THANKSGIVING. God's goodness is so apparent and we gather as a community of faith to offer our prayers for the many ways in which God has enriched our lives with His gifts. The most appropriate way to offer our thanks to God is through the celebration of the Eucharist. The Mass is the Most Perfect Prayer that has ever been spoken, for it is the Prayer of Jesus Christ. In union with the Lord Jesus, we offer our prayer of gratitude to the Father for all that He has done for us. We will offer Mass on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMEBER 26TH AT 7:30 PM and THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 27TH AT 8:00 AM. There will be a special collection taken up during the Mass to assist the ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY in their most important and charitable ministry to those who are most in need. We hope that all of you will be able to join us as we offer the thanks of the parish family to the Lord Whose generosity is without end.

I have been invited to celebrate the SUNDAY MASS ON TELEVISION that is broadcast each week on WHDH, Channel 7. This is a privilege that is extended solely because of my role as Pastor of this parish and so I want to invite any parishioners to join me for this special moment. However, space is limited and therefore if you would like to be present in the studio, please contact the Rectory. The Mass will be celebrated on SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 30TH AT 7:30 AM and will be broadcast live from the studio of Channel 7. May I ask that you please remember me in your prayers.

Statement of Archbishop Sean P. O'Malley,
Archbishop of Boston

Since the inception of the Commonwealth and the writing of the Massachusetts Constitution, jurists, public officials, and common sense have interpreted marriage as meaning a lifetime covenant between a man and a woman. It is alarming that the Supreme Judicial Court in this ruling has cast aside what has been not only that interpretation of the Massachusetts Constitution but the very definition of marriage held by peoples for thousands of years. My hope is that legislators will have the courage and common sense to redress this situation for the good of society.
