FROM
THE PASTOR
The Church celebrates today the FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING
and this provides us with an opportunity to reflect upon the role
that Christ has in our lives. Through our baptism, we believe
that we belong to Him, we are the sheep of His flock, and that,
through our faithful adherence to His Gospel, we will someday
reign with Him in Heaven. I often meditate on that great line
from G. K. Chesterton, “If it were a crime to be a Christian,
would there be enough evidence to convict you?”” On this day,
let us pray for the grace to bear courageous witness to the Kingship
of Christ by the way that we live and the words that we speak.
I
want to invite all parishioners to join us this Wednesday evening,
November 28th, at 7:30 PM for the ANNUAL MASS FOR PRE-BORN
DECEASED AND ALL CHILDREN WHO HAVE DIED. We are extending
a special invitation to all parents who have lost a child through
death. The death of a child is perhaps the worst experience that
a parent can endure and it is often difficult for us to understand
how God can allow this to happen. We believe that, through His
infinite mercy, God brings to Himself all children and that they
are numbered among the saints. In spite of our grief, the death
of a child is a joyous moment for the child because they achieve
immediately the purpose for which they have been created. We offer
our prayers for their parents in the hope that Christ’s promise
of the Resurrection will ease their sadness and provide some comfort.
We have invited the REV. J. BRYAN HEHIR, the
Secretary of Social Service for the Archdiocese of Boston, to
join us and to be the homilist of the Mass. I hope all parishioners
will join us for this special Mass as our presence can serve as
a source of great comfort to parents.
As
we shared last weekend, the Parish Pastoral Council and the St.
Vincent de Paul Society are co-sponsoring a PANCAKE BREAKFAST
WITH A PURPOSE on Sunday, December 2nd after the 7:30
and 9:00 AM Masses. This breakfast will allow all of us to spend
some time becoming better acquainted with each other as well as
to provide an opportunity to help fund our charitable works accomplished
through the parish St. Vincent de Paul team. In order to plan
for the number of people planning to attend the breakfast, we
ask that you sign up TODAY after Mass. There are sign-up sheets
in the vestibule of the Church. Although there is no charge for
this breakfast, we hope that those who are able will make a donation
so that we might help those in need of fuel assistance during
the coming cold months.

Stewardship
“….let him save himself if he is the chosen one….” - Luke 23:35
Out
of love, Jesus willingly came for the salvation of all humanity.
Loving God, may others see an attitude of gratitude in me for
your gift of salvation.
Electronic Offertory
In
an effort to make it more convenient for parishioners to financially
support Saint Patrick Parish, we now offer you the ability to
make your offertory contributions electronically. Rather than
placing cash or checks in the collection basket each week, you
now have the option to simply have a predetermined monthly amount
withdrawn from your checking or savings account that will be automatically
deposited into the Parish Offertory. Transactions will be made
on the 15th of each month. If you are interested in signing up
for electronic offertory payments, or if you would like additional
information, please contact Jean Lorrey in the Parish Office at
508-653-1093. Thank you.
Prayer
for Vocations
Generous God, you call us by name
and ask us to follow you. Help us grow in the love and service
of our church. Give us the energy and spirit to shape its future.
Grant us faith-filled leaders who will embrace Christ’s mission
of love and justice. Bless the church by raising up dedicated
and generous leaders from our family and friends who will serve
as sisters, priests, brothers, deacons and lay ministers. Inspire
us to open our hearts and hear your call. Amen
Mass of Remembrance for Pre-Born Children
A
Mass of Remembrance for Pre-Born Children who have been lost to
miscarriage, stillbirth or abortion will be held at 7:30
p.m. Wednesday evening, November 28th at St. Patrick
Church. Rev. Bryan Hehir, Secretary of Social Services for the
Archdiocese of Boston, will offer the homily. Parents, grandparents
and siblings who have suffered the loss of these little ones are
invited to join.
Respect Life Ministry
Our annual Jesse Tree begins next
weekend. Please stop by after Mass at the back of the church to
select your gift tag to purchase a gift for a child or adult in
need. Your kindness in providing gifts to members of our community
symbolize the roots of kindness and love that branch from our
hearts and unify us as a family in Christ. Gift tags will be available
the following two weekends. Gifts need to be returned to the back
of the Church no later than December 9th.
Eucharistic Adoration
Our
parish is blessed with the opportunity to worship before the Lord
in Eucharistic Adoration 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please
consider Jesus’ invitation to join him in prayer by spending some
quiet time before the Blessed Sacrament. No appointment necessary.
If
you can commit to a regularly scheduled hour, please contact Ed
or Shirley Milch at 508-653-2941.
