FROM
THE PASTOR
The SECOND COLLECTION that is being taken up
at all of the Masses this weekend is for MONTHLY PARISH
MAINTENANCE. The proceeds from this monthly collection
are used to help to defray some of the larger expenses that
we incur in providing pastoral services. I know how difficult
the current economic situation is for many but I would ask that
those who are able to be as generous as possible. Thank you
all for what you do and for the sacrifices that you make to
aid the mission of the Church.
I
am delighted to welcome to the parish staff, MR. JASON
GIOMBETTI, who will assume the responsibilities of
the Religious Education Program for Grades 7-10. I am most grateful
to LISA CORREIA for her efforts to develop
the curriculum and the enhancements to the overall program that
have been made during the past few years. Mrs. Correia will
continue in her role as the Coordinator of Grades 1-6. I am
indebted to her for her willingness and generosity in assuming
the responsibilities of the high school program during this
interim period. Mr. Giombetti comes to us after having been
in this similar position for a number of years at St. Cecilia’s
in Ashland. In addition to the Religious Education responsibilities,
Mr. Giombetti will aid in the parish Youth Ministry Program.
I am certain that Jason will bring many blessings to the parish
family and I am confident that you will make him feel at home
here at St. Patrick’s.
Most
of us are aware of the horrific earthquake that has ravaged
the island of Haiti. Cardinal O’Malley has issued the following
statement in response to overwhelming needs confronting the
people of that impoverished country: “The human
tragedy unfolding in Haiti is heartbreaking and it calls all
of us to action to help the people impacted by the earthquake.
We pray for those who have perished, for the injured, for the
displaced and for relief personnel who are courageously working
to assist the people of Haiti at this difficult and sad time.
We ask God to bless Haiti and to be merciful in their hour of
need. The destruction witnessed has devastated a poor nation
of people who cry out now for the help of the world community.
The Archdiocese of Boston will do its part in assisting our
brothers and sisters in Haiti.”
The
Cardinal is authorizing a second collection in the parishes
of the Archdiocese of Boston on the weekend of January
30 & 31.Funds collected will be sent to Catholic
Relief Services (CRS) to assist in relief efforts in Haiti.
CRS will coordinate with local and international agencies to
determine how best to provide help where it is most needed.
In addition, the Cardinal announced that Catholic Charities
Boston is actively engaged in working with the local Haitian
community to assist families locally who have loved ones impacted
by the earthquake.

Stewardship
2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time
“To each individual the manifestation
of the Spirit is given for some benefit.” - 1 Corinthians 12:7
St.
Paul tells us that God has blessed each of us for a reason. How
has God blessed you? Are you using your gifts according to God’s
plan, helping to do His work here on earth? Remember that if you
don’t do the work God planned for you, no one else can do it.
Electronic
Offertory
In
an effort to make it more convenient for parishioners to financially
support Saint Patrick Parish, we now offer you the ability to
make your offertory contributions electronically. Rather than
placing cash or checks in the collection basket each week, you
now have the option to simply have a predetermined monthly amount
withdrawn from your checking or savings account that will be automatically
deposited into the Parish Offertory. Transactions will be made
on the 15th of each month. If you are interested in signing up
for electronic offertory payments, or if you would like additional
information, please contact Jean Lorrey in the Parish Office at
508-653-1093. Thank you.
2009 Tax Statements
For your convenience, tax statements
for your 2009 offertory contributions are available by contacting
the parish office at 508-653-1093. Your personalized statement
will be prepared and mailed to you, or arrangements may be made
to pick it up in the office. Please note that the IRS may disallow
your charitable deductions if you are unable to provide this acknowledgement
to them upon request. Thank you for your continued support of
Saint Patrick Parish.
Rest
in Peace
Let us pray for those who have
died, especially

they and all of our faithful departed rest in peace.

in need of additional members to help with the cleaning of the
sacristy, altar area and altar linens. We would like enough volunteers
so that a once-a-month commitment is all that would be necessary.
If you are interested, please call the rectory at 508-653-1093,
and leave your name and number. Thank you for your consideration!
