FROM THE PASTOR

On behalf of the entire parish family, I want to express our prayerful best wishes to the REVEREND MARK J. RILEY as he prepares to leave our parish for his new assignment. The Archbishop has appointed Fr. Riley as the Parochial Vicar at St. Paul's Parish in Wellesley and we hope that he will find great happiness with our neighbors down the street. I am grateful to all of you for your many acts of kindness to Fr. Riley. Fr. Rafferty and I are grateful as well to Fr. Riley for his generous service to our parish during the time of his residence here. May Fr. Riley's priestly ministry be a source of great blessing to the parishioners of St. Paul's as it has been for all of us here at St. Patrick's. May Mary, the Queen of the Clergy, intercede with her Divine Son and return to Fr. Riley the same joy that his friendship and ministry has brought to all of us. AD MULTOS ANNOS.

In the name of the entire parish community, I want to extend a special word of welcome to the new parishioners who have joined our parish during the past year. Many of you have come from wonderful faith communities that have had a rich tradition of commitment and service to the Church. We are celebrating a MASS OF WELCOME today at 11:30 AM and are thanking God for the blessing that He has bestowed upon us through you. We are enriched by your presence among us and we anxiously await your active participation in the parish life. I also hope that you will make yourselves at home here and that together we may move toward a better future as we unite ourselves to the Source and Summit of all life: Jesus Christ the Lord.

There will be a SPECIAL SECOND COLLECTION taken up at all of the Masses next weekend for CHRISTMAS FLOWERS. Many people have expressed a desire to have their loved ones remembered in prayers during the Christmas season and we have decided to decorate the Church in memory of all of our deceased loved ones. If you wish to make a financial contribution towards this, please write the name of the deceased loved one on the outside of the envelopes that are in the pews and place your offering in next week's second collection. In the event that finances are somewhat problematic for you, please feel free to simply write the name of anyone that you would like remembered on the outside of the envelope and simply place it in the basket. We are happy to remember everyone in our prayers at the Altar during this holy season.

As we are fast approaching Christmas Day, I want to bring the CHRISTMAS MASS SCHEDULE to your attention so that you can make your plans. We will celebrate Mass at St. Patrick's on Saturday, December 24th at 4:00 PM, 6:00 PM, and 12:00 MIDNIGHT. Mass will be celebrated on Sunday, December 25th at 7:30 AM, 9:00 AM, and 11:30 AM. Please note that there will not be a 5:30 PM Mass on Christmas Day.

We will be holding an ADVENT PENANCE SERVICE. on next Monday, December 19th at 7:30 PM in the Church. There will be an opportunity for individual confession and we have invited additional priests to be with us to celebrate the Sacrament of Penance. I hope all will attend.

PARISH SUPPORT

Budgeted           Actual
Offertory                Offertory                Deficit

$15,000.00            $12,454.75            $2,454.25

The Spirituality of Stewardship
Receive God's Gifts gratefully
Nurture God's gifts tenderly
Share God's gifts generously
Giving praise and thanks to God

We are sincerely grateful for so many of our parishioners' gifts of time and talent that render service to God's people. Some parishioners may question, "What is appropriate financial support of the Church in light of one's blessings?" The church offers the following spiritual stewardship guidelines. A good place to start is offering 2 ½ % of one's income to God's Church and 2 ½ % to personal charities. As one is inspired by God, a person would increase the percent of giving, i.e. 5 % to God's Church and 5 % to one's personal charities. The percentage would continue to increase according to the movement of God's grace in one's heart.

Rest in Peace

Let us pray for those who have died, especially
Alice Carew and Ruth Quinn
May they and all the faithful departed rest in peace.

Looking for a Christmas gift for the man who has everything? Give the gift that keeps on giving!

This year, consider giving the most important men in your life a ticket to attend the 2006 Boston Catholic Men's Conference. Last year's Conference attracted 2,200 men and proved to be a dynamic forum of faith that would help sustain a love of Christ and give rise to a wave of new men's prayer and support groups. This year's Conference features some of today's most prolific Catholic thinkers (Scott Hahn, Father Cantalamessa, Father Corapi and Archbishop Sean O'Malley) and is expected to draw over 4000 participants. It's the must-see event for Catholic men in New England. To order tickets please contact Mike DelVecchio at 508-651-3406.

This is a wonderful opportunity to meet parishioners and is a simple way to be part of a parish ministry. If you are interested please contact Chuck Young (508-655-2010), or David Yuska (508-545-1704).

Safety for All

In an effort to make sure our building is a secure place for all during the celebration of Mass, parents please accompany your children when they need to use the rest room. In this way we will all be assured that our youngsters are safe at all times.
