FROM THE PASTOR
There will be a SPECIAL SECOND COLLECTION taken up at all of the Masses this weekend for CHRISTMAS FLOWERS. We have decided to decorate the Church in memory of all of our deceased loved ones. If you wish to make a financial contribution towards this, please write the name of the deceased loved one on the outside of the envelopes that are in the pews and place your offering in this week's second collection. In the event that finances are somewhat problematic for you, please feel free to simply write the name of anyone that you would like remembered on the outside of the envelope and simply place it in the basket. We are happy to remember everyone in our prayers at the Altar during this holy season.
This Sunday afternoon we will be joining together for CHRISTMAS CAROLS ON THE COMMON. We will gather on the Natick Common at 2:00 PM to sing carols and to help us prepare to celebrate the Birth of Christ. We have invited the other Christian churches in town to join us as we try to put Christ back into our Christmas preparations. I hope that all families will attend this wonderful and prayerful event. There will be refreshments served afterwards.
We will be holding an ADVENT PENANCE SERVICE on this Monday, December 19th at 7:30 PM in the Church. There will be an opportunity for individual confession and we have invited additional priests to be with us to celebrate the Sacrament of Penance. I want to encourage all to participate in this wonderful opportunity to receive the real gift of Christmas: Christ's forgiveness and peace.
As we are fast approaching Christmas Day, I want to bring the CHRISTMAS MASS SCHEDULE to your attention so that you can make your plans. We will celebrate Mass at St. Patrick's on Saturday, December 24th at 4:00 PM, 6:00 PM, and 12:00 MIDNIGHT. Mass will be celebrated on Sunday, December 25th at 7:30 AM, 9:00 AM, and 11:30 AM. Please note that there will not be a 5:30 PM Mass on Christmas Day.
In anticipation of larger crowds at our Christmas liturgies, we are looking for people who would be willing to act as GREETERS and to welcome all who join us for these sacred days. If you would be willing to serve in this capacity and to extend a welcome to those who are with us, please contact the Rectory. It is our desire to make everyone feel at home here as we celebrate the Birth of Our Lord.
I want to express my thanks to all those who made last week's CHRISTMAS DINNER PARTY such a huge success. I am especially grateful to TESS ROBERTS and LISA CORREIA, the co-chairs of the Parish Activities Commission, for their hard work in planning this event. My thanks as well to NANCY MAGUIRE and to our children for the beautiful musical program that kept us entertained. I know that everyone who was present enjoyed the opportunity to relax and to share fellowship with each other. It was such a wonderful opportunity to take a break from the entire bustle of this season and to enjoy the gift of each other's company.

Stewardship
"Do not be afraid, Mary." (Luke 1:30)
It can be a little scary to do as God asks - to give Him the first fruits of our time, talent and treasure. But the comforting words the angel spoke to Mary can comfort us, too, when we dedicate ourselves to being good Christian stewards - "Do not be afraid."
Rest in Peace
Let us pray for those who have died, especially
Alice Carew and Ruth Quinn
May they and all the faithful departed rest in peace.
Parish Penance Service
Our Evening of Prayer this month will be held on Monday, December 19th, at 7:30 PM. This evening will be our Advent Penance Service and many priests will be available to hear confessions. Please come and experience the healing presence of Christ through this powerful Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Jesse Tree
The Respect Life Ministry would like to thank everyone who participated in our annual Jesse Tree. The response was overwhelming and we were able to touch many children and adults with your generosity. Again the Jesse Tree symbolizes the roots of kindness and love that branch from our hearts and unify us as a family in Christ.
Thank You!
Thank you for Saint Patrick's generous 29 November 2005 donation of $5,000 to Labels Are For Jars, which represents the proceeds from your parish fair.
Your community continues to be a unique support for our effort to feed the hungry in Lawrence. In just over a year, Saint Patrick Parish has contributed almost $14,000 for the building of the Cor Unum Meal Center, and individual parishioners have offered many other gifts. Amazing!
The great news is that we broke ground for the construction of Cor Unum two weeks ago. Construction is scheduled to be completed in July 2006. We are now hard at work raising the $4000,000 we need in order to open the center's doors. Your most recent donation moves us another step closer to achieving that goal.
May God bless you for your kindness!
Reverend Paul B. O'Brien
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul
Thanks to all the Religious Education classes for their hard work and generosity in collecting food for Thanksgiving and to the students who helped deliver the food baskets. You were extremely helpful!
