FROM THE PASTOR
I am happy to announce that effective immediately, we are expanding our office hours in order to better serve the increasing demands of our growing parish family. There is a tremendous amount of activity that takes place in our parish on week nights after 5:00 PM, and there is an obvious need for the extended office hours. I am delighted that MRS. KATHLEEN KELLY has accepted the position of Evening Receptionist and has joined the Saint Patrick Parish office staff. Kathy will be working Monday through Friday from 5-9 p.m. in the parish office to answer phones, greet visitors, manage requests for Masses, Mass cards, and other administrative duties. I am sure you will join me in welcoming Kathy to her new position.
As you leave Mass this weekend, I ask that you please pick up a flyer for the 2006 BOSTON CATHOLIC WOMEN'S CONFERENCE being held on Friday, March 3rd, and the BOSTON CATHOLIC MEN'S CONFERNENCE on Saturday, March 4th. As we enter the Holy Season of Lent, I strongly encourage each of you to prayerfully consider attending these conferences, which will be held at the new Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in South Boston. Transportation will be provided from Saint Patrick's to both conferences for those wishing to attend. Additional details and information on ticket sales are available in the flyers located in the vestibule of the Church.
You will notice that due to the snowstorm last Sunday, our weekly offertory is substantially lower than normal bringing in a total of only $7,661. The Parish Finance Council has determined that a weekly offertory collection of $14,000 is necessary in order to cover the basic operating expenses of the parish. With school vacation coming up, we are at risk of another low collection. Our expenses, like yours, are on the rise, especially given the increased price of heating oil and electricity. Last month alone, our heating bill was $4,307, which is a twenty-five percent increase from last year, and the electric bill was $3,159, which is a fifty-percent increase from last year. I ask for your continued generous support to help us meet these expenses.
Please remember that although school may be out next week and many of you will be enjoying a family vacation, you are never on vacation from my prayers. Each of you is a unique and unrepeatable gift from God, and I am thankful to Him each day for the blessing you are to me.

Stewardship
"He rose, picked up his mat at once and went away in the sight of everyone. They were all astounded and glorified God, saying, 'We have never seen anything like this.'" (Mark 2:12)
Have you taken any time lately to think about how truly good God has been to you? He may not have to cure your paralysis if He has already given you the gift of mobility. But do we glorify and thank Him for such simple gifts as sight, speech and general health? Do we give back to God in proportion to all the many blessings He has given to us?
Rest in Peace
Let us pray for those who have died, especially
James Fitzpatrick and Daryth Jacob
May they and all the faithful departed rest in peace.

How about attending the Boston Catholic Men's Conference on March 4th at the Boston Convention Center in South Boston? Speakers will include Father Raniero Cantalamessa (Preacher to the Papal Household), Scott Hahn and Father John Corapi (two of the most popular evangelists in the USA), and Sean Forrest from Movin' with the Spirit. Mass is celebrated by Archbishop Sean O'Malley. Last year, over 2000 men attended and many of them said that the Conference was a spiritual high point in their year. Come see what they mean! Prayer for Vocations
Dear God, you have created us in your own image and have given us so many gifts. We ask you to bless us all, so that we may know best how to love you and each other with those gifts. We pray especially for those young men and women who are searching for ways to serve you in love. May they be open to all that you may ask. We pray for those who study for the priesthood and religious life, that their preparations may bring to the church happy and holy priests and religious men and women. We ask this, through Christ the Good Shepherd. Amen.
