FROM THE PASTOR
The second collection being taken up at all of the Masses this weekend is for the benefit of our SEMINARIES. The proceeds from this collection are used to support the formation and the education of our future priests, especially those studying at Saint John's Seminary in Brighton and at Blessed John XXIII Seminary in Weston. The need for a well-educated and spiritually grounded clergy is obvious as we prepare our future priests for service in the Church in Boston. Your generous support of this collection allows us to use our precious resources for what is certainly one of the most critical areas of Catholic life. I am sure that you will be as generous as possible in this annual collection as we make a contribution towards our future as Church.
I want to invite all of you to join us this Monday, May 16th, at 7:30 in the Church as we pray the Living Rosary. This beautiful prayerful experience is offered for the intentions of our new Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI as we ask the Blessed Mother's powerful intercession for him as he assumes his new role as Supreme Shepherd of the Church. The evening will consist of parishioners praying each decade of the rosary, and will conclude with Benediction. I hope that as many of you as are able will set aside this time to be a part of this very special moment of grace. There will be refreshments served in the parish hall afterward.
As the Church celebrates the Feast of Pentecost, we are reminded of the vocation of all of us to bear witness to the truth of the Gospel. Jesus commissioned His Apostles as He began His Church to be instruments of peace and of reconciliation. The Center of our Catholic faith is the Eucharist, in which we proclaim that Jesus Christ is really and truly present, and we use every opportunity to reinvigorate ourselves through contact with Him. One of the greatest gifts at St. Patrick's Church is the ability to come into the Lord's presence 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. This great blessing is available to us through the kindness and generosity of our brothers and sisters who devote themselves to faithfully adoring Him through the Adoration Ministry. We are in need of people who would be willing to commit to one hour a week to pray before the Blessed Sacrament. There will be people at the doors of the church this weekend after Mass so that you may volunteer for this awesome privilege of participating in the Adoration Ministry.
Once again I want to call your attention to the Annual Catholic Appeal currently underway in the Archdiocese of Boston. All the parishes of the Archdiocese have been asked to contribute to this appeal, which is responsible for the various pastoral, social, educational, and spiritual programs that take place with in the Archdiocese. Our support of this appeal has never been more critical than it is at this moment. Our compassionate concern for those less fortunate than ourselves is demonstrated most effectively by our generous financial support of this appeal. So many of our brothers and sisters are in need of these programs, and we cannot afford to jeopardize the mission of the Church by failing to respond. In the name of all who benefit from this appeal, please accept our prayerful gratitude and our hope that God will reward you for all you do for his people.

Thank You
Once again the St. Patrick's Parish family has demonstrated their compassion and charity by responding to the Birthright Carnation Annual Appeal. Over $700.00 was raised to assist pregnant women during their time of need. This agency is dedicated to upholding the sanctity of All Human Life.
Thank you and God Bless You,

2005 Annual Catholic Appeal
Our Faith At Work is a powerful force.
Once again, we want to thank everyone who has participated in the 2005 Catholic Appeal. If you have yet to send in your pledge, we hope you will. Our Faith At Work is a powerful force. Its strength comes from the Lord, but it also comes from all of us. Once a year, through the Annual Catholic Appeal, the Church asks for your support in meeting the needs of our Catholic family. It is a request that we join together, knowing that, together, our strength is far stronger than it can ever be individually.
Remember, under the new Parish Share component we have a great opportunity to increase parish revenue while still supporting the ministries funded by the Catholic Appeal. If we exceed our goal, we will receive 25 percent of all funds raised above goal for use here at our parish. If the Archdiocese exceeds its total goal, 25 percent of the funds raised over goal will be returned to the parishes that exceeded their goals.
Thank you for your generous support.

Evening of Prayer
Our next Evening of Prayer will be held on Monday, May 16th, at 7:30 p.m. Please join us as we gather together in faith to pray the Living Rosary for the intentions of our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI. Each bead of the Rosary is represented by a parishioner, and we honor our Blessed Mother Mary with scripture and song.
We offer this special prayer to our Blessed Mother asking her to intercede for us as we pray for all our priests, for those who are about to be ordained, and for the intentions of our new Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI.
"We pray that Mary, Queen of the Clergy, will be their model of faith and joy, and constant guide until they reach heaven where a crown, jeweled with the many souls entrusted to them on the day of Ordination, will be their reward for faithful and loving service. Amen."
If you are willing to pray one Hail Mary or Our Father as part of this Living Rosary, we ask that you sign up after Mass this weekend, or contact the Parish Office at 508-653-1093.
All are welcome and encouraged to attend this prayerful evening. Refreshments will be served following the service.
2005 CORI CHECK
In keeping with the Archdiocesan policy for conducting background checks for clergy, staff, and volunteers, we will be asking all volunteers to complete a CORI (criminal offender record information) form to be submitted to the Archdiocesan Office of Volunteer Resources.
This is an annual process followed by all parishes within the Archdiocese of Boston, and we at Saint Patrick Parish have been asked to conduct our annual CORI check during the month of May.
All volunteers (age 18 and older) will be asked to complete a 2005 CORI form and return it to the Parish Office by May 27th, 2005. Your cooperation is most appreciated.

St. Augustine's Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Breathe in me O Holy Spirit that my thoughts may all be holy;
Act in me O Holy Spirit that my works, too, may be holy;
Draw my heart O Holy Spirit that I love but what is holy;
Strengthen me O Holy Spirit to defend that is holy;
Guard me then O Holy Spirit that I always may be holy.
Safety for All
In an effort to make sure our building is a secure place for all during the celebration of Mass, parents please accompany your children when they need to use the rest room. In this way we will all be assured that our youngsters are safe at all times.
