FROM THE PASTOR
I want to extend a warm welcome to our new Parochial vicar, the REVEREND THOMAS S. RAFFERTY, to our parish family. Father Rafferty was recently ordained to the Sacred Priesthood by Archbishop Sean and we are delighted to have this wonderful priest in our midst. Father Rafferty will be the Principal Celebrant of next Sunday's 11:30 AM Mass and there will be a reception in the downstairs hall so that all who wish may personally greet him and his family. I know that Father Rafferty will find a true home here at St. Patrick's and we look forward to sharing the pastoral ministry with him. As the Irish are fond of saying, "Cead mile failte or 100,000 WELCOMES!"
This weekend, the Spiritual Development Commission is beginning a NOVENA IN HONOR OF ST. ANTHONY, whose Feast Day is June 13th. At the conclusion of the Prayers of the Faithful during all of the Masses between now and June 13th, we will all pray a special prayer for this wonderful saint's intercession for our needs and those of the entire parish. There are copies of the novena prayers in the pews and we invite all of you to join us. Please feel free to take a copy of the novena prayers home with you and plan on saying this prayer for the next nine days. We will conclude this novena with a Special Mass on next Monday, June 13th at 7:30 PM and I hope that all will participate in this powerful moment of grace.
On Sunday, June 5th, the Class of 2005 will be graduated from the Natick High School. We offer our prayerful congratulations to these young men and women who have achieved this milestone. We commend their future to the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to guide them as they advance along life's pathways. We take this opportunity to express our best wishes to those who have been responsible in helping them to reach this stage, especially their parents and guardians. This year's graduation also marks the retirement of one of our dedicated parishioners. LEE CRUMP will conclude her many years as an educator at Natick High School at the end of the school year. Although I am certain that no one begrudges Mrs. Crump her well-deserved retirement, it goes without saying the she will be sorely missed by the school community.
Finally, I would like to direct your attention to the new flags that are presently flying on our Church property. Through the kindness and generosity of benefactors who wish to remain anonymous, we are able to fly both the flags of the United States and the Holy See. It is nice to be reminded of our fidelity to both our country as well as our Catholic faith.
