FROM THE PASTOR
There will be a SPECIAL SECOND COLLECTION taken up at all of the Masses this weekend for the CATHOLIC HOME MISSIONS. The funds from this Appeal will help extend and strengthen the presence of the Church in the United States through the support of basic pastoral services in areas that are struggling to provide these necessities on their own. This Appeal allows Catholics to help support to local communities there Catholics are few, the Church is fragile, and pastors are struggling to keep mission parishes open. Your generous support of this collection will be gratefully appreciated, especially by those who are most in need.
I would like to ask your continued prayers for our Holy Father, Pope Benedict and for the success of WORLD YOUTH DAY that is being held in Cologne, Germany. The Holy Father will conclude this extraordinary event with Mass on Sunday and we pray that this remarkable moment in the Church has been a time of great grace for the 800,000 people that have participated during this past week. We pray for the safe return of those from our parish community who traveled to be with the Holy Father for this spiritually uplifting moment.
I want to remind all parishioners of some exciting programs that will be starting in the fall. The MEN'S GROUP will begin meeting on Saturdays at 6:45 AM starting on September 10th. I want to encourage all of the men who are able to join us for this special time of fellowship and prayer. A women's group, called WINGS, is expected to begin on Wednesday, September 28th. The program will be offered in the morning so that more women might be able to participate. The location for both of these groups will be the Church Hall. I am hoping that these programs, as well as many others, will help enrich the faith lives of all of us so that we can serve the Lord and His Church with renewed enthusiasm and zeal.
One of the nicest facets of parish life at St. Patrick's is the ADULT ALTAR SERVER ministry. We are so fortunate to have many of our adults who have offered to assist the priests at daily Mass. It is particularly gratifying to have their assistance at the funerals that are celebrated here. We are always in need of more people to step forward and I would like to invite all of our parishioners to prayerfully consider the possibility of joining this ministry. This is a wonderful way to enhance your participation in the liturgy as well as an opportunity to serve the needs of others. If you would be willing to become part of this ministry, please call the Rectory so that we can arrange for a training session.

STEWARDSHIP
"Or who has given the Lord anything that he may be repaid?"
Romans 11:35
St. Paul reminds us of a central fact of stewardship. We cannot give the Lord anything, because God already owns it all. God made everything. All that we can do is return a portion of God's many gifts back to Him. The good steward does this with gratitude.

The drive will last through the first week of September 9, 2005. The food drive will benefit all Natick food pantries. This neighbor to neighbor food drive will benefit local Natick families.
For many local families summertime is not easy. Children are home from school and there is a real need for extra food, as children do not have school feeding programs available to them in the summer months. Whether or not you are a customer of Sovereign Bank, please consider stopping by to drop off non-perishable food items between 9am and 4:30pm, Monday thru Friday. Your contribution will make a difference to a local child.
For more information, please call Catholic Charities' Natick office at 508-647-5638.
