FROM THE PASTOR
"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age."
Matthew 28:19-20
These are the last words of Matthew's Gospel. For me, they serve as a powerful reminder of our Christian duty to spread the Good News of Jesus. As baptized Christians and parents, our primary catechetical responsibility is to our children. It can seem that our increasingly secular world often makes our faith based values counter-cultural. Young people will more easily comprehend this and live accordingly if we do our part to educate them as Christians. Persevere, encourage each other and pray for God's assistance with this responsibility.
As the days of summer come to an end and we prepare for the beginning of another school year, please make it a priority to ensure that your children are properly enrolled in Religious Education. In order to do the work the Risen Jesus asks of us in making disciples of all the nations, I respectfully ask you to consider teaching in our Religious Education Program. I particularly ask younger parishioners to challenge themselves. In addition to serving as an inspirational role model, the experience can deepen your relationship with Jesus. Regardless of your age, one way to mitigate any trepidation about teaching is to drag along a friend for moral support. You get a companion for the faith journey and we get an extra teacher!
In addition to the program for our children there are some exciting programs for adults. The fall Introduction to Scriptures program will meet on Sunday mornings. W.I.N.G.S. (Women In God's Spirit) will begin soon on Wednesday mornings and a men's group is getting underway for Saturday mornings. We give thanks to Almighty God for all of these programs and the committed people that make them successful. A grateful community of believers appreciates your contributions of time and talent and reminds you that you are not alone. In this sacred work, Jesus' promise is to be with us always.

Parish Pastoral Council Upcoming Elections
The purpose of the Parish Pastoral Council is to serve in an advisory capacity to the Pastor in matters related to the growth and development of the Parish. In order to be eligible to serve on the Parish Pastoral Council, the individual must be age 18 or older, a practicing Catholic, registered parishioner, and active in the parish.
Several of the existing council members' terms are expiring, and we are seeking nominations for new members to fill these vacant positions. The commitment to serve on this council is three years, and attendance at monthly meetings is required.
More details on the nomination and election process will be published in the bulletin over the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, please prayerfully consider nominating someone for this role.
If you would like to nominate someone, or if you have any questions about serving on the Parish Pastoral Council, please contact either Maureen O'Brien at 508-653-3768 or Ed Finerty at 508-651-3899.

There is a short warm-up before the 11:30 Mass on Sundays. The Choir performs at the Christmas Eve Masses and special Masses during Holy Week. Music is a very important part of our worship and the choir enjoys the fellowship of one another and the challenge of expanding their knowledge of Sacred Repertoire.
