FROM THE PASTOR
Father Rafferty and I met with the PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL this past week and I was reminded of how fortunate we are to have this dedicated group of parishioners who, in our monthly meetings, are willing to give of their time to assist us in our pastoral ministry. It is both refreshing and energizing because we are able to share some of our common concerns about the direction of the parish and to look for creative ways in which to implement our goals. It is comforting to know that we are able to rely upon the advice and counsel of such good people as we attempt to discern what is best for the parish. I am most appreciative of their willingness to serve this community and I look forward to great things as a result of our collaborative efforts.
I am also blessed to have at my disposal another group of trusted and competent advisors to assist me in the administration of the parish. The PARISH FINANCE COUNCIL helps to determine the financial funding that is required for the various programs and to discover the appropriate avenues in order to raise the necessary revenues to achieve our goals. This particular group of people devotes their energies to helping develop an operational budget that is required of any large organization and to oversee the entire fiscal portrait of the parish. I can't state clearly enough how much I depend upon the expertise of these men and women in attempting to administer the temporal affairs of the parish. I am certainly indebted to them for their hard work, their diligent concern for the parish, and for their genuine love of the Church.
Periodically, I invite members of the Parish Finance Council, who also meet on a monthly basis, to attend the Pastoral Council meeting in order to engage in a more constructive collaboration. There are so many decisions that need to be made that will affect the parish community today as well as for many years to come. One of those decisions concerns the parish properties and what we should do with them. I have a PROPERTIES TASK FORCE that has been working to determine the various possibilities of future usage of our properties and to examine what the actual cost will be both in dollars and in future pastoral planning requirements. Thus far, the Task Force has arrived at four possible scenarios and will shortly be outlining those to the entire parish. The overriding question for all of us is to attempt to ascertain what we want the parish to look like in the next 10 years. This is the reason why the consultation process has appeared to be rather lengthy: we can't afford to make a mistake as we plan for our future and although one solution might look promising, it must be examined from every aspect. I would appreciate your input and your prayers, as well as your patience, as we look to our future as a parish.

Stewardship
"What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? I will demonstrate my faith to you from my works." (James 2:14, 18)
We demonstrate our faith with our stewardship. Good stewards spend time with God, share talent in ministry and give treasure to support the work of God here on earth. This is how we demonstrate our faith.
Adoration Ministry
St. Patrick Parish is blessed to have a perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel for more than 10 years. In order to have a constant vigil of prayer before The Blessed Sacrament we must make sure each hour is covered by a designated adorer. We are in urgent need of permanent adorers. On the weekends of September 16-17 and September 23-24, members of the Adoration Ministry will be available after all of the Masses to answer questions and invite people to become Eucharistic Adorers. You will come to cherish this one hour a week with Jesus. "Could you not sit one hour with me?" Call Anne Reilly at 508-655-8516 to sign up.
Rest in Peace
Let us pray for those who have died, especially
William E. Moores, Jr.
May they and all the faithful departed rest in peace.
