FROM THE PASTOR
Last year, Archbishop O'Malley wrote a Pastoral Letter, "Vocations: Everybody's Business" in which he addressed the need for all of us to pray for vocations and to promote awareness among men and women to consider a vocation to the Priesthood or religious life. The Archbishop also asked that each parish establish a Vocation Committee. I am happy to announce that JOAN KINGSLEY and SUZANNE D'INNOCENZO have agreed to be the Parish Vocations Coordinators and will be attending a special workshop with the Archbishop to determine the steps necessary for implementing this committee within our parish. As many of you already know, there are four men from St. Patrick's presently pursuing studies towards Ordination to the Scared Priesthood. BILL VENTURA and MARK BARR are at St. John's Seminary in Brighton, DAVID GUNTER is at Blessed John XXIII National Seminary in Weston, and DAN D'INNOCENZO is at St. Charles Borromeo College Seminary in Overbrook, PA. Your prayerful support and encouragement for these men would be greatly appreciated. I am certain that there are many young men and women within our parish family who would make great priests and religious and I hope that this new Parish Vocation Committee will aid them in discerning God's call.
The St. Patrick's Religious Education program begins this weekend and I am looking forward to a wonderful year. I am most grateful to FR. RAFFERTY and MELISA MELNYK for all of their hard work and to the many CATECHISTS who are offering their services to teach our Catholic faith to another generation. The program's success requires the cooperation of all parishioners, especially parents, and I am confident that working and praying together we can help our community to grow in faith. I had the chance to meet with parents last week and I was impressed by the large number of people who showed up on a very hot night to hear about this year's program. I know that it can be very challenging to share your Catholic faith in the middle of a culture that seems estranged from Gospel values but, when all is said and done, it is the relationship that we have with Christ that will endure. Please pray that all of us will be faithful and generous in our witness to the Gospel.
We are in need of ALTAR SERVERS, both young and adult. We will be offering a training session in the near future for anyone interested in serving at the Altar and I hope that everyone will consider this important ministry.
Lastly, please take note of the PARISH BULLETIN BOARD in the vestibule. There is information on many of the interesting and exciting events here at St. Patricks.

Thank You
Dear Friends,
I want to thank all of those who helped organize the coffee get-together after the 8:00 am Mass a few Saturdays ago to send me off to the seminary. I also want to thank all of those who gave me a card or gift. I can't tell you how much it means to me to have so many parishioners from St. Patrick's as thoughtful as all of you. I ask for your continued prayers as I will be praying for all of you at the seminary.
God Bless!
