Catechists

Welcome to our new catechists and welcome back to our experienced catechists!

What does it mean to be a Catechist in the Religious Education Program at St. Patrick?

You have made a commitment to serve the children, their families, and the parish through the thoughtful transmission of your faith.

Although we call what you will be doing teaching, in reality you are not teachers but Catechists so...

What is a Catechist?

A Catechist is...

      A Person of faith,
            A witness to the Gospel,
A member of a Parish Community,
And a winess to the Church!

Through our Baptism each one of us is called to be a disciple, to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to make the Kingdom of God a reality in day to day living. Some people are called to be a catechist in their own community.
A catechist is called to be specifically involved in nurturing and preparing young children, youth or adults in the faith - preparing them for Sacraments of Initiation: Eucharist and Confirmation.

Lord, thank you for the wonderful individuals who step out of their comfort zone to share in the sometimes wild, but always joyous moments of sharing faith!
